Tudor Dixon is the Republican gubernatorial candidate in Michigan
Democrats and their liberal enablers in the media just can't believe that ordinary Americans actually exist.
To them, if you don't think the way they do, you must be imaginary.
Your hopes and dreams, your fears and struggles, the things that keep you up at night — those are silly, a fiction, in their eyes.
In short, 'who cares?' they laugh.
The very unfunny late night host Stephen Colbert even attempted to turn a concerned Michigan parent into a punchline.
But the bit blew up in his face.
At one of my recent events, Khalil Othman, a Muslim-American father from Dearborn, told the audience he was voting Republican this year because Democrats have ignored his concerns about pornographic content in schools.
'I am a proud Muslim American who expresses my values and concerns all the time,' Khalil said at my campaign's October 21st townhall. 'Dearborn has been voting Democrat blue for the last decade or two decades. But not anymore. On behalf of myself and my family, I guarantee you for sure that my family and my friends will vote for Republicans.'
Many parents in Michigan have been motivated to get involved in school board races and even my race because of the radical sexual content being pushed on young children in schools. They want candidates to acknowledge it exists and to protect our kids from it.
At one of my recent events, Khalil Othman (in blue suit and red tie), a Muslim-American father from Dearborn, told the audience he was voting Republican this year because Democrats have ignored his concerns about pornographic content in schools.
But Stephen Colbert, a gasbag if there ever was one, couldn't fathom Khalil's very existence.
After I told Khalil's story during my debate against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Colbert laughed it off.
'Okay, fine, "that happened,"' he joked sarcastically.
'This guy, she totally made up,' he said, going on to mock the idea of a parent complaining about pornographic material in school libraries.
Much like Colbert's ratings this gag fell flat.
That must be why Colbert, whose comedy has devolved into pitiful, bitter political rants, now plays second fiddle to Fox News' Greg Gutfeld.
Now Colbert has offered an apology – in name only. He couldn't resist mocking Khalil one more time.
'I would like to apologize,' he said over the laughs of his audience. 'It is a terrible thing for someone to deny your very existence. Just ask trans people.'
So, there it is folks.
If you dare to speak up and say that you object to sexualized content in school libraries – you are an anti-trans bigot to Stephen Colbert, who can't even bring himself to offer a sincere apology to Khalil.
Colbert's cheap smuggery made Khalil upset.
But Khalil made a clear point that is serious, not just for him, but also for his community.
They are upset about what is going on in schools and Democrats don't care.
Worse still, they mock Khalil and his community.
I've traveled across the state of Michigan and have been in communities that have been decimated by Democrat policies. (Above center, Tudor Dixon)
I've traveled across the state of Michigan and have been in communities that have been decimated by Democrat policies.
I've had women and men crying to me, saying 'bring our communities back.'
Stephen Colbert would do well to visit some of those folks and hear their stories. They aren't a punchline. They aren't a joke. They're real people with real suffering who are expecting real solutions.
He could start in Saginaw, home of his beloved Spirit hockey team, which suffers with the 4th worst violent crime rate in the country.
People are coming forward every day, desperate for their kids to get back on track.
But Gretchen Whitmer did the bidding of union bosses during the pandemic, shutting kids out of schools and harming their future.
During our last debate, Whitmer looked into the camera and with a straight face said she closed schools for just 'three months.'
She wouldn't admit her policies kept many kids out of in-person learning for 18 months. Some schools were closed even this year and she said nothing.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's running mate, Garlin Gilchrist told a Detroit audience, 'We believe that every child has a right to an amazing public education and that starts with taking care of the adults.'
That's a statement that $2.25 million in donations from the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers will get you.
If you dare to speak up and say that you object to sexualized content in school libraries – you are an anti-trans bigot to Stephen Colbert, who can't even bring himself to offer a sincere apology to Khalil.
Whitmer, Gilchrist, and Colbert are part of the same liberal elitist club that looks down their nose at parents who are concerned about what their children are being taught. Those three think they know better than parents.
This election is about Khalil and other parents who are fighting for their kids, ensuring they are able to instill their values in their children and not have to worry about liberal activists imposing their own on them at school.
At my event, Khalil predicted a red wave because long time Democrats are switching over the school issue.
'I am among hundreds, maybe thousands of people in Dearborn who are ready for the red tsunami,' Khalil told the Daily Mail. 'I am a proud Muslim American who expressed my values and concerns all the time.'
Khalil and his community will get the last laugh this election at the expense of Gretchen Whitmer and Stephen Colbert.
