Saturday Night Live lampoons Democrats with Joe Biden rally featuring parade of absurd 'candidates'

With just days to go until the midterms Saturday Night Live dished out a dose of cold reality in their cold open suggesting the Democrats are in for a big loss come Tuesday.

James Austin Johnson who plays President Joe Biden, could be seen in a moment of desperation 'making some last minute changes' in the list of Democrats running for office and instead bringing in candidates who have more star power.

'My fellow Americans. This Tuesday, our midterm elections will determine the fate of our democracy. And let's just say: big yikes!' he began. 

'We don't have any stars anymore. Too many Raphael Warnocks and not enough Herschel Walkers,' Johnson's Biden continued.

'Which is why we're going to make some last-minute changes before Tuesday with the Democrats who are exciting, got that sizzle. For example: hey, California, sick of Adam Schiff? Meet your next congresswoman. She ran for president back in 2020 and she loves a good crystal. It's Marianne Williamson!'

'Folks, I'm trying like Hell, I promise,' the comedian's Biden went on to say as he portrayed the disoriented 79-year-old Commander-in-chief. 'I'm on the Peloton every morning tempting fate.'

In quick succession Biden introduced his other colorful characters including 'Mayor of Flavortown' Guy Fieri, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine who he said would run for Ohio's Senate seat, and ex-porn star Stormy Daniels running for Governor of Michigan.

'I may be a former adult star currently on Season 7 of The Surreal Life, but I'm willing to debase myself and enter U.S. politics,' Cecily Strong's Stormy said.

'I'll work with anyone, and I'm willing to reach around aisle to get things done,' she added in one of the few funny lines of the cold open. 'I think it's reach across the aisle,' responded Johnson's Biden.

As Biden showed off his army of would-be Democratic stars he also briefly made reference to last week's attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband by hinting at Republican's attempts suggesting something erotic may have been going on. 

'A lot of you Red-state types finally got broadband internet so you can share your Paul Pelosi gay erotic fiction at light speed,' he said. 'By the way: you right-wingers sure do love thinking up these gay little scenarios. Kind of sus!' 

Johnson's Biden then reeled off a list of legislative successes that have been drowned out by MAGA rhetoric.

He then noted how Barack Obama still draws adulation from campaign rally crowds. In real life, the former president had been out campaigning in Pennsylvania on Saturday.  

 'How do you think that makes me feel?' Johnson's Biden asked. 'Do yourself a favor, Google 'young Joe Biden,' and start a bubble bath.'
