Billionaire Ken Griffin slams Chicago schools for 'indoctrinating' kids in 'crushing woke ideology'

Billionaire hedge fund boss Ken Griffin has accused his children’s former Chicago school of indoctrinating them in ‘woke ideology’.

The businessman, 54, said the unnamed institution reprimanded his son ‘for stereotyping’ because he said an Asian student was good at math.

Griffin, who recently relocated to Florida and moved his $50bn firm’s HQ to Miami, said seeing woke values forced onto his children was ‘crushing’.

They would return from school ‘confused’ about whether the United States is a good country.

But the father-of-three, who is worth around $30 billion, said he’s watched his children ‘transform’ since they moved to a Miami school after Griffin relocated earlier this year.

His comments come as recent data suggests tens of thousands of Americans are leaving blue states like Illinois, California and New York for Florida.

Some observers have predicted the trend will continue following the reelection of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the midterms.

He won support for endorsing legislation that would ban schools from teaching young children about sexual orientation and gender identity.

Griffin is a major GOP donor and gave $5 million to DeSantis' reelection campaign.

He revealed the issues with his children’s former school, which he didn’t name, during a talk with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez on Monday night.

He said: ‘My children went to a phenomenal school in Chicago, but their indoctrination in woke ideology was just crushing.

‘They came home very confused about whether or not the United States was a good country, and they came home very confused about what they could or could not say to a student who was Asian or otherwise of color.

‘My son was reprimanded for telling a fellow Asian student that he was good at math, for stereotyping.

‘It’s unbelievable to see how that just destroys the minds of children who are otherwise innocent and good and they don’t even think about these kinds of things.

‘To watch them transform here in school in Miami is perhaps the greatest gift that Miami has given my family.’

Griffin also heaped praise on Florida’s leadership, adding: ‘I think there’s something very special about Florida, and the government in Florida, and the focus on delivering for the community and the focus on delivering traditional American values to the community.’

He announced in June that Citadel’s HQ would move from Chicago and cited that a spike in crime influenced the decision.

Griffin also described Miami as a 'growing metropolis that embodies the American dream'.

Citadel manages assets worth around $50 billion dollars.

His move to Florida, where he was born, makes him the state’s richest man. He was formerly the richest man in Chicago.

In September, he was revealed as the mystery buyer of a record-breaking $106.9 million waterfront estate in Miami, Florida, making it the city's most expensive listing to date.

Griffin acquired the mega 4-acre estate located in Coconut Grove on Brickell Avenue - about two miles from his future Miami office.

The palatial home boasts old war charm and the grandeur and opulence of the Great Gatsby era.

The historic property features two residences.

The main property is a 14-000 square-foot primary residence with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, 20-foot-high ceilings, grand marble staircase, three living rooms, grand salon, dining room that seats 20, sun room and breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay with architectural detail throughout.

There is also a two-bedroom, two bathroom guest villa, which was once the home occupied by former US Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan, built in 1913.

The former owner of the estate was renowned philanthropist Adrienne Arsht.

In a sign of Florida’s ongoing popularity among Americans seeking to relocate, recent figures show 51,904 New Yorkers transferred their driving licenses to Florida between January 1 and October 31.

The data is an indicator of domestic migration.

That includes 5,501 in October alone, according to figures obtained by DailyMail.com.

The number who moved from California to Florida across the same period was 24,982 making it the state with the second highest tally of switched licenses.

Meanwhile, 20,673 licenses have been transferred from Illinois between January and October. The total for 2021 was 26,076.

Florida also has no state individual state income tax rate - making it attractive for workers and businesses.

Griffin insisted ‘taxes were not part of our decision to come to Florida’ - but said the state’s government delivers ‘value for taxes paid’ and ‘strong public schools’.

Governor DeSantis has taken a no-nonsense approach to his crackdown on woke views creeping into America’s school system.

Along with endorsing legislation against teaching young children about sexuality, he has introduced bills to ban critical race theory teaching in schools and workplaces across the state.

DeSantis is touted as a possible Republican candidate for 2024 presidential election.

Griffin, who has given $60 million to GOP candidates and campaigns, told Politico last week that the Republican party must 'move on' from Donald Trump.

'He did a lot of things really well and missed the mark on some important areas,' he said. 'And for a litany of reasons, I think it’s time to move on to the next generation.'
