Shocking bodycam footage shows the moment a wanted fugitive in Ohio barged into a daycare and pushed children to the side as he attempted to run from police, who quickly apprehended him in the classroom.

Lamar Mitchell, 39, was wanted by police in Warren, Ohio for felonious assault, when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and he refused to pull over.

Mitchell sped away from the police car and eventually crashed, but instead of turning himself in, he continued to run on foot.

He is seen on camera sprinting into Precious Times Child Day Care and School, pushing open the door after an employee tried to shut it.

The officer trails closely behind, attempting to use a stun gun on Mitchell, but misses, allowing him to run further into the daycare and into a classroom. Mitchell appeared to simulate pointing a gun at the officer.

Mitchell hurdled a playpen and tossed a child into the path of the officers before seemingly giving up inside the classroom and lying down on his back as officers shout to 'cuff him.'

The officer is then heard telling his colleagues and the surrounding teachers to 'get the kids, please, get the kids' as several children can be heard crying in the background.

Mitchell can be heard saying he had no weapons on him. When the officer accused him of tossing a gun away, he denied ever having one. He is then transported outside and held on the ground as the video ends.

Mitchell is set to stand trial on a slew of charges, including aggravated burglary, aggravated menacing and failure to comply.

He already has a long list of offenses on his criminal record, dating back to a three-year sentence in 2001 for aggravated robbery at the age of 17; he has been charged with many other crimes including arson, domestic violence and discharging a gun at a school.

One mother, who had a 1-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter inside the daycare, said: 'I wish they never had to experience that.'

'I was at work, and I just dropped everything and raced to the daycare,' she said, adding that her son was in the classroom Mitchell ran into.

'They said he was bumped over, and the day care worker grabbed him and took him to safety. And then after he jumped in, they grabbed that other kid,' she said, referring to the child seen in the video.

She thinks her daughter is now suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the incident.

'We had a fire truck come down the road the other day, and she was sitting out here on the porch with me covered up in her blanket and started shaking and screaming that she needed to hide because the cops were going to get her,' she recalled.

'She’s just terrified of them now. I’ve been trying to explain to her that there’s nothing to be scared of and that they’re here to protect her,' she added.
