A divisive relationship expert has revealed when he believes is the best time to move in with a partner.

Jake Maddock, from Brisbane, said in a TikTok video that around the six to nine-month mark was the ideal time to live with someone you're dating.

He said while you may want to live together sooner, lasting six months is an important milestone as it's 'hard' to reach.

He also shared why he believes a man should never move into a woman's house.

Controversial relationship coach, Jake Maddock, has revealed couples should move in together after six to nine months of dating but only in the relationship is a 'ten out of ten'

Controversial relationship coach, Jake Maddock, has revealed couples should move in together after six to nine months of dating but only in the relationship is a 'ten out of ten'

'When to move in together? Around the six to nine month mark is the best time,' he answered.

'It should be hard to get to six month mark, you should want to live together sooner.'

Not all viewers in the comments agreed with the advice while others shared their own experiences of moving in with a partner and what timeframe did or didn't work for them.

'I don't agree with this, I think it's on your own time!' one woman replied.

'He wanted go move in at six months. I let him. He left me 10 days later,' another recalled.

'We did at five months, we wanted to wait six months but just couldn't wait any longer. We were ready at two-three months,' a third shared.

'My boyfriend (at the time, he's my husband now) asked me to move in with him literally four or five months within dating. Best thing ever,' said a fourth.

This isn't the first time Jake has been asked when couples should move in together and while his answer remained the same, previously he added you should only live together 'if the relationship is a ten out of ten'.

He also said couples should get a new house together or the woman has to move into the man's house.

This appears to be so the woman can 'take the man's lead' at home, without having to 'surrender' her own space.

Jake has made a name for himself online with his often controversial dating advice  and has a combined 588,000 followers across his social media channels.

He revealed how often couples should have sex - and says his stats are proven by 'science'.

The former builder says you should be intimate with your partner two to three times a week because it provides 'mental and physical health benefits' and 'hormonal regulation'.

'There's a whole bunch of science behind this. It's been shown with studies that it's very good for females to orgasm three times a week. It's good for their mental health, their physical health, it's good for their bodies, Jake said in a TikTok video.

'Good for men's hormonal regulation, mental health, physical health. There's lots of good things that happen.

'People in long-term relationships seem to get lazy and they go 'once a week is fine', 'once a month is fine', they just get lazier and you drift apart. So two to three times a week really keeps people on track,' he said (stock image)

'[Having sex] two to three times a week is also going to help you guys bond together really well.'

He said over time as couples become comfortable with each other they start to get into 'lazy' habits by not having sex as often.

A study published in Archives of Sexual Behaviour revealed married couples have sex 51 times a year - about once a week.

But others argue there's no 'magic number' when it comes to how often you and your partner are intimate.

Couples therapist and sexologist Isiah McKimmie told House of Wellness the number varies and is based on life and circumstances.

'There isn't a set amount of sex that makes for a great relationship, and it's normal for two partners to have different ideas of how much sex they want,' Isiah said.

'What's important is that couples work together to find sexual enjoyment that works for both of them.'
