Nine sailors with the United States Navy were injured when a fire broke out aboard an aircraft carrier Tuesday morning.
All of the injuries aboard the Nimitz-class USS Abraham Lincoln were minor, with six of the sailors suffering from dehydration, months after a Navy report found that there was E. coli in the water on board the ship.
All of the seamen were treated onboard, 10 News reports.
Fortunately, the Navy says the blaze was quickly extinguished by crew members, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Officials say the ship was conducting routine operations about 30 miles off the coast of southern California when the fire broke out, and will remain at sea following the blaze.
'At this time, there are no plans for the Lincoln to return to its home port due to the fire,' Lt. Samuel Boyle, a spokesperson for the San Diego-based US 3rd Fleet said.
It remains unclear what injuries the sailors sustained, what caused the fire to break out and how long it raged before crew members were able to put it out.
