Former NFL QB Jon Kitna's son Jalen is arrested for possession of child porn, suspended by Florida

Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna - the son of NFL veteran Jon - was arrested Wednesday on two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography, Gainesville police said.

Kitna, 19, was booked into the Alachua County jail at 3:20pm ET, and his arrest came after the Gainesville Police Department received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

According to a news release from the police, the tip 'indicated that a Discord user distributed an image of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) through their platform.'

Kitna was investigated by police and later deemed to be the probable account holder of the Discord, from which two illegal pictures were sent.

The University of Florida Athletic Association said they were 'shocked and saddened' by the news.

'These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior.'

Florida has suspended Kitna indefinitely from the football program.

The release noted that Kitna admitted to sharing the material, but believed them to be 'legal' since he found them online.

Kitna also allegedly told police that his Discord account was deactivated, with an email from the site citing a violation of the site's rules. 

Police also found three additional images of child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices, which were seized.

Kitna is a redshirt freshman that had appeared in four games this season. Police said he was due to appear in court on Thursday morning.

His dad Jon played 15 years in NFL for Seahawks, Bengals, Lions and Cowboys. He is currently head coach and athletic coordinator at Burleson High School in Burleson, Texas.
