The Princess of Wales brought the theme of her husband's eco-friendly Earthshot Prize to life in spectacularly stylish fashion this evening, when she arrived on the 'green carpet' wearing a rented neon green off-the-shoulder gown. 

Kate, 40, certainly pulled out all the stops for the evening - which has been described as William's 'Super Bowl moment' - taking a break from her normally-reserved sense of style in order to steal the spotlight in the eye-popping number. 

In keeping with the theme of the evening, the Princess chose to don a rented design from a brand called Solace London, which the royal got from online designer rental platform HURR - which charges between $91 (£74) and $238 (£194) to loan the gown. 

However, while Kate's borrowed garment was a far cry cheaper than the high-fashion pieces she normally sports, she added plenty of bling to her look in the form of a stunning diamond-and-emerald choker that once belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

Guests have begun arriving at the 2022 Earthshot Awards taking place in Boston this evening.

James Bond actor Rami Malek and Republican Senator Mitt Romney are among the arrivals at the high-status event.

The Earthshot Prize was set up by Prince William in 2020 to champion innovate solutions to fight climate change.  

President Joe Biden and Prince William's meeting on Friday was marred by protesters, who accused the two men of being 'complicit in the exploitation of workers.'

Biden and William met on the banks of the Boston Harbor at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. They exchanged a friendly chat ahead of their private meeting, which is expected to be on climate change and mental health issues. 

'Where's your top coat,' the president, 80 asked the Prince of Wales, 40, who chuckled in return. Biden wore a long overcoat while William went coatless over his suit on the cold, windy day.

William, in turn, commented on the view of the habor with downtown Boston visible across the water. 'What a spectacular view,' he said.

But their meeting was disrupted by about 100 protesters, who shouted in the background 'f*** the Royal family' and 'Joe Biden is a scab.'

US President Joe Biden has arrived in Boston ahead of his meeting with Prince William today.

The President was greeted by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey at Logan International airport.

President Biden will also take part in a union phone bank in the city and attend a Democratic senate campaign reception.

Global star Billie Eilish will lead a stellar entertainment line-up during a ceremony - dubbed the prince's 'world cup' moment - that aims to celebrate and scale up environmental solutions to repair the planet.

Former England and Manchester United footballer David Beckham will present one of the five awards with each category winner receiving £1 million to develop their project.

Writing in the Huffington Post, the future King said about the finalists: 'The Earthshot Prize wants to find the best of them. We want to celebrate and support them, so that we not only supercharge their positive impact but also demonstrate to a despairing world that there is an optimistic way forward.

'Dire predictions about our natural world aren't the only side to this story and they don't have to be our future.'

Ahead of the event being staged on Friday evening at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, behind the scenes photographs of William and Kate attending a Thursday rehearsal for the ceremony were released.

Harry and Meghan's new Netflix documentary is being seen as a 'declaration of war' by the royals, sources said last night.

A promotional trailer, which was posted online on the second day of the Prince and Princess of Wales' high-profile visit to the US, dispelled any hopes that the Sussexes are declaring a ceasefire in their acrimonious battle with the Royal Family.

As well as including dozens of supposedly private pictures from their family album, the footage includes a voiceover from Harry saying gravely, 'no-one sees what's happening behind closed doors' over a black and white picture of his wife on an armchair, apparently crying.

The film then immediately cuts away to a shot focusing on a pinched-looking William and Kate at the 2019 Commonwealth Service in London, with the Sussexes sitting meekly behind them.

The message, say royal sources, is unmistakable. 'I don't see how anyone could view it as anything other than a declaration of war,' said one.

It has been hailed as Prince William's 'Super Bowl' moment - and the royal seems determined to ensure that his glitzy, eco-friendly Earthshot Prize gala tonight is nothing short of a triumphant touchdown. 

On the surface, the star-studded event has all the trappings of a glamorous Hollywood awards show, from its very well-publicized build-up to its list of celebrity guests, which includes the likes of Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox and Rami Malek.

But while William and Kate are no doubt hoping that the A-list crowd will help to draw positive attention to their event - which is taking place under the shadow of Buckingham Palace's race row and in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan's bombshell Netflix trailer drop - they are also very eager to ensure that not a single foot is put out of line as far as the gala's eco-friendly theme is concerned. 

To that end, the couple - who today amplified the hype surrounding the event by releasing a series of artsy black-and-white images of themselves preparing for it - has implemented a host of very 'green' measures for the evening's soiree, from wearing 'recycled' outfits on the red carpet to using burlap decor and a re-used green carpet.

Princess Kate has visited The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University to speak with academics there.

The Princess has been campaigning for a greater understanding of the first few years of children's lives and their impact on mental health and social issues later in life.

Members of the Harvard faculty have been using advances in science to inform policy on child welfare and development. 

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been inundated with support from fans after their royal tour of Boston was 'tainted' by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell Netflix trailer.

Less than 24 hours after the royal couple arrived in the US city, Netflix released a one-minute clip promoting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's £82m docu-series, which lands on the streaming platform next week.

The clip, which is littered with private photos, showed Meghan crying and Harry saying gravely, 'no-one sees what's happening behind closed doors', in a major hint that they are set to inflict more damage on the Royal Family. 

Shortly after Netflix trailer was posted on YouTube, the Prince and Princess visited  a climate innovation company in the Massachusetts capital before then travelling to Boston Harbour Defenses to learn about the impact of rising sea levels on the city's shoreline.

Kate, 40, stepped out alone for the first time since arriving in the US on Wednesday, waving and beaming at the crowds of supporters as she arrived at The Center of the Developing Child at Harvard University, where she will 'have a discussion with researchers about the advances in science that can be harnessed to achieve a promising future for every child'.

Kate stepped out looking ever elegant in a blue houndstooth dress, which featured long sleeves and a collar, and which was paired with a pale blue handbag and a pair of dark blue heels.

Beaming Kate has arrived at Harvard University in a classy dogtooth patterned dress.

While in Boston, The Princess is taking the opportunity to visit The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, as part of her ongoing work to elevate the importance of the early years to lifelong outcomes.

The Harvard Center focuses on leveraging advances in science to inform the policy landscape and to increase the impact of programs.

It has long been a friend of The Royal Foundation and more recently The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, supporting with past research on the importance of the early years.

Fans are awaiting the arrival of Catherine the Princess of Wales to visit the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

William and Kate were so charmed by the sight of an eight year-old boy dressed as a Grenadier Guard during an engagement in Boston that they requested to meet the youngster.

Henry Dynov-Teixeira, eight, was whisked behind a security cordon to meet the Prince and Princess of Wales at Greentown Labs in a suburb of the Massachusetts city.

The Earthshot prize is a 'huge deal to Prince William,' Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty Magazine said.

'He knows he can attract attention from the most important people.

'That really is the core of the Boston trip.'

William's environmental awards have been dubbed the prince's 'world cup' moment.

They aim to celebrate and scale up environmental solutions to repair the planet.

William will host his second inaugural Earthshot Prize ceremony in Boston tonight.

On the second day of the Waleses’ first overseas trip since the death of the Queen, the trailer for Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docu-series was released.
