Terrifying moment rabid RACCOON attacks screaming Connecticut girl, 7, as she leaves her house

This is the terrifying moment a rabid raccoon attacks a screaming seven-year-old Connecticut girl as she leaves her house to go to school.

Shocking security footage captured the savage beast ambush Rylee MacNamara as she left her Canterbury home at 7.45am on Friday.

It sunk its claws into the youngster's foot as she grappled with it and tossed her leg back and forth in a desperate bid to shake it loose.

But the raccoon clung on as the girl screamed before her mother Kelsey raced outside to fight it off.

Rylee slowly rises to her feet and runs inside before the mom closes the door with one hand as the creature clings to her other arm

She scooped up Rylee and snatched the crazed mammal away from her, dangling the two of them from either arm.

She then bundled her terrified daughter back into the house before turning her attention to the aggressive invader.

Kelsey herself screamed for help as the raccoon shrieked as she tried to loosen its grip and chuck it off her doorstep.

She eventually grasps it by the head with both hands before tossing it across her front garden and on to her lawn.

The video begins and you immediately hear Rylee scream as a the raccoon attacks her leg

MacNamara continues to scream and kicks repeatedly in an attempt to get rid of the raccoon but it just refuses to let go

The dazed beast stands motionless for a few seconds, before appearing to turn back to the home for a feared second assault.

But it turns suddenly turns away from the house and races off down the front drive as a dog barks at it from a window.

Kelsey posted on her join Facebook page with husband Logan: 'Per Rylee's request ''show everyone what the racoon did''.

'We are headed to get checked out for rabies following this unprovoked racoon attack. I can't tell you how proud I am of this Brave girl!'

After a minute, Rylee's mother finally runs outside and grabs the raccoon, the video shows

The mother attempts to pull the raccoon off of Rylee to the point that she grabs onto her mom for balance to try and stay upright

Rylee takes several steps in an attempt to shake off the critter, but it still holds on tight
