Kerry Kennedy praises 'incredibly brave' Duke and Duchess of Susses

RFKHR president Kerry Kennedy said the Sussexes had been 'incredibly brave' in addressing the issues of racial justice and mental illness.

Ms Kennedy, who is the daughter of Robert F Kennedy, said she was "proud" to be honouring them at the gala.

'They've stood up, they've talked about racial justice and they've talked about mental illness in a way that was incredibly brave', she told US outlet Extra on the event's blue carpet.

'In this world in the wake of Covid there has been a massive spike...people around the globe have said they have anxiety and massive depression.

'For Meghan to get out there on national television and normalise discussion of mental health, at this point, is incredibly important and very brave.

'So I'm very proud.'

Queen Elizabeth II 'wanted Meghan Markle to make a success of her new role' and suggested Sophie Wessex as a mentor - but the Duchess of Sussex 'wasn't interested', according to a royal author.

Gyles Brandreth told Palace Confidential that Her Majesty, who died aged 96 on September 8, did 'everything that she could' to welcome Meghan, who now lives with Prince Harry and their two children in a £11million mansion in Montecito, California.

He said the Queen suggested the Countess of Wessex as a 'sort of mentor' to the Duchess, however, Meghan 'felt she had Harry' and didn't need further help from an advisor.

Harry and Meghan's bombshell Netflix docuseries is 'very skewed to an American audience' which 'won't care' about any 'falsifications', experts warned today.

The accuracy of the $100million programme was called into question after it emerged that footage which supposedly showed media harassment of the couple was actually filmed under vastly different circumstances.

Footage of cameramen included in the trailer was actually filmed as former glamour model Katie Price arrived for a drink-driving court appearance, while a photograph showing banks of waiting Press photographers was taken at a Harry Potter premiere with no royal attendance.
