Florida fire crews respond after fire breaks out at auto parts yard in Hialeah, just outside Miami

Florida fire crews on Tuesday responded to put out a massive blaze at an auto parts yard just outside of Miami.

Rastro Coco Auto Parts in Hialeah caught fire around 1.30pm and quickly spread, requiring more than 100 firefighters and 20 units to respond.

The fire, which encompassed the 5100 block of E. 10th Court, burned on for hours and heavy flames and smoke could be seen from State Route 826, local media said. 

As of 4.30pm ET, no injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Another angle of the destructive blaze shows the fire from a nearby airport 

Streets in the area were shut down and closed off to traffic as crews worked to get the blaze under control.

One report indicated that back up crews from Miami-Dade County were also dispatched to help out with the fire. 

Video posted to social media Tuesday afternoon shows the sheer size of the fire along Florida's southeast coast. 

The heavy black smoke billows endlessly as deep flames spread over piles of vehicles in the junk yard.

Just outside of the fire, contained within the fence of the Rastro Coco Auto Parts facility, at least one fire truck and a fire emergency vehicle can be seen along with firefighters preparing to douse the blaze. 

Seconds into the alarming video, a small explosion occurs in the bottom left corner of the yard as sparks fly up and land on the damaged vehicles. 

The fire could be seen from miles away in Miami and Miami Beach

Hialeah Fire Department spokesman David Rodriguez told NBC6 firefighters would be working through much of the day to stop the fire from spreading and put it out completely. 

Rodriguez said the intricacies of the fire being at a junkyard with highly flammable materials has made the challenge even more difficult. 

'It's just very difficult to get these fires under control and get these fires out just because of the sheer volume of cars, of explosive combustibles, it makes it very very difficult,' he said. 

'We're going to be here for a while, obviously,' Rodriguez told the NBC affiliate. 

The fire burned through half a city block, according to fire officials 

Hialeah is located less than 10 miles from the water and 15 miles from Miami's city-center. 

Joel Franco, a content creator with more than 42,000 followers on Twitter, shared a shocking photo of the blaze taken from more than 15 miles away.

'Junkyard fire in Hialeah visible from Miami Beach,' Franco captioned the disturbing photo which shows heavy smoke rising from the junk yard. 

One of Franco's followers responded and said 'currently right by it,' sharing their own photo of the fire.
