Republican Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina implored former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to ask then-President Donald Trump to impose martial law three days before Joe Biden was to be sworn in as president, newly unearthed Meadows texts reveal.

Norman, a wealthy real estate developer who was elected to fill the seat of former Trump acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, called Trump 'our last hope.'

The texts were among those Meadows handed over to the House January 6 Committee at the start of its probe. They are emerging just days before the committee is set to publish its exhaustive final report.

Norman invoked the same unsubstantiated allegations against Dominion Systems voting machines that many Trump legal advisors were promoting, prompting defamation lawsuits from the company,

'Mark, in seeing what’s happening so quickly, and reading about the Dominion law suits attempting to stop any meaningful investigation we are at a point of no return in saving our Republic !! Our LAST HOPE is invoking Marshall Law!! PLEASE URGE TO PRESIDENT TO DO SO!!' he wrote, misspelling martial law.

A log of texts that Meadows provided to the House select committee does not include a response, according to Talking Points Memo, which obtained the texts.

Norman responded to the publications request for comment by saying: 'It’s been two years. Send that text to me and I’ll take a look at it,' without further response.

Reached by DailyMail.com about what exactly Norman hoped Trump would do, Norman's deputy chief of staff Austin Livingston responded: 'Obviously, Martial Law was never warranted. That text message came from a source of frustration, on the heels of countless unanswered questions about the integrity of the 2020 election, without any way to slow down and examine those issues prior to the inauguration of the newly elected president.'

The texts were among numerous exchanges between Meadows and Republicans. Meadows headed the conservative House Freedom Caucus before joining the White House.

Texas GOP Rep. Brian Babin sent 21 messages to Meadows, according to TPM. 'Mark, When we lose Trump we lose our Republic. Fight like hell and find a way. We’re with you down here in Texas and refuse to live under a corrupt Marxist dictatorship. Liberty! Babin' he wrote.

The texts come days before the panel is set to meet to vote out its final report, which will reflect more than 1,000 witness interviews in its probe of January 6.

Norman's message came the same day Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene texted Meadows something similar – with the same misspelling.
