Republican plan to zero in on Hunter Biden's connection to the China

The incoming Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee is planning to focus both on President Biden's son Hunter and the role of the president's former 'body man' in pushing a potential business introduction in China.

The probe, part of a broader look at Hunter's foreign business dealings based in part on information gleaned from his laptop, will take in communications from Francis 'Fran' Person, who was a close personal aid to to Biden when he was vice president.

As Biden's body man, Person traveled with the vice president to 47 states, keeping track of personal details, fielding calls, helping with schedules, and staying in close quarters at odd hours. He also assisted Biden in the Senate, working with him for eight years.

Person left government in 2014 and went on to join the Harves Group, founded by Chinese executive Bo Zhang, who has 'ties' to the Chinese Communist Party.

Rep. James Comer has vowed a series of hearings on Biden 'influence peddling' when he takes over as chair of the House Oversight Committee when the Republicans take the majority. 

The White House has repeatedly dismissed any role between the president and his troubled son's business efforts. 

'The Biden family’s suspicious business dealings with companies tied to Communist China are a national security threat,' Comer told Fox News Digital. 'The Bidens sold access to foreign adversaries like China to enrich themselves to the detriment of American interests.'

Person visited the White House multiple times at the tail end of the Obama administration, and sent a lengthy email to Hunter Biden proposing a joint meeting in China that would include Bo Zhang and members of his family 'dynasty', Fox News reported, citing committee members who said Hunter Biden's business dealings with the Harves Group feature in early investigating.

He told the president's son, who was then putting together deals at his firm Seneca Partners, that he was not 'selling you anything,' but trying to make introductions that could bear fruit down the road. He pitched a week of meetings in China, plus some adventuring at resorts in Hainan, where Bo, who has D.C. ties and a Washington business address, has family political ties.

Hunter Biden has made a series of appearances at the White House in recent weeks, as his team prepares to battle Republican probes

'Bo Zhang and his family would host us. They are a great family with great respect and relationships in China,' Person wrote. 'They are very private, and wouldn’t tell anyone about you coming. Bo’s father-in-law is actually the Governor of Hainan (Chinese Hawaii), which he doesn’t advertise at all.'

He wrote: 'I’d like for you to get to know Bo. He’s a brilliant guy - he’s been groomed to take over his family’s dynasty, but he’s very humble. He will do great things one day, but he needs good people around him.'

Establishing Bo's Washington bonafides, he wrote: 'He and his wife live in DC, and are expecting a child. He is building a huge house in McLean, and plans on working and living in the US.'

It doesn't appear Hunter made the trip being floated, although his 2013 trip to China while his farther was vice president has also drawn scrutiny. (Hunter Biden was setting up his Chinese private equity fund at the time). 

A Foreign Assets Registration Act filing disclosed Bo's ties to Chinese government officials while seeking to line up meetings with members of Congress.

The latest signals of Hunter Biden probes comes as Hunter has made a series of appearances at the White House in recent weeks while his team makes preparations to battle investigators, who will soon be armed with subpoena power.
