Former Bengals and Rams offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth has opened the door for a surprise return from retirement in the wake of La'el Collins' season-ending ACL tear.
Collins, the team's starting right tackle, suffered the injury against the Patriots last weekend with the playoffs on the horizon for the 11-4 squad.
And while Whitworth rode off into the sunset after his Rams won the Super Bowl vs. the Bengals last season, there's apparently a slight chance he could suit up again.

'I've said this since the day I retired, I'll never say never,' Whitworth said on 'The Season with Peter Schrager' podcast.
'There's always a chance.'
'I love adventures. I love taking on chances,' he continued.
'So, to me there's always one. Obviously, there's a lot of things that would go into it. I mean, I'm technically under contract still with the Rams, and I'd have to, I'd have to kick off the old, uh, dust a little bit and see if I could still move a little bit.
'But you know what, I'd, I'd never say no to the option, but, you know, I don't know. It'd have to be a sit-down convo with, with [my wife] Melissa and the kids and say, 'Hey, can we do this again or not?''
Whitworth spent 11 seasons playing with the Bengals but never won a playoff game there
While Whitworth may be lacking in game-shape (and right-tackle experience - he mostly played left tackle in his career), he would certainly bring experience to Cincinnati in place of Collins.
He played for the franchise from 2006-16, thrice earning Pro Bowl honors there whilst making six postseason appearances.
While he never won a playoff game in Cincy, he was able to get over the hump in Los Angeles, first losing in Super Bowl LIII vs. the Patriots in 2019 before winning a ring earlier this year.
Nonetheless, it doesn't seem that a Whitworth-Bengals reunion is likely judging by coach Zac Taylor's remarks on Tuesday.
'We have good people in the building that we trust,' Taylor told reporters.
'We've got guys that we've had in here developing, working in our system, that we've got a high degree of trust in that can help us do the things that we need to this year.'
