Maryland coach Mike Locksley was on the receiving end of a new - and particularly messy - tradition on Friday, having a huge pot of mayonnaise poured all over him following his team's bowl win.
Locksley became the second winning head coach of the Duke's Mayo Bowl to suffer the hilarious fate, following in the footsteps of South Carolina's Shane Beamer in 2021.
It was a slightly more serene experience for Locksley for a number of reasons, though, after he initially opted to wear a huge cap to stop his face and head being covered in the condiment.

Furthermore, he also escaped getting smacked on the head by the mayonnaise container, a year after Beamer, 44, got hammered by the cooler before a drop of the sauce had touched his body.
This year, Duke's Mayo - incredibly - held a country-wide search for the best mayo dumpers, with the three lucky winners taking control of the pot to pour the white stuff over Locksley's head.
The head coach, 53, took the moment in his stride, barely cracking a smile as the liquid oozed down his clothes and into his lap.

He did lean in to the experience after that though, opting to take his cap off to feel the full effect of the mayo, laughing at the onlooking crowd.
In the game itself, Maryland came through 16-12 to defeat NC State and secure back-to-back bowl wins for the first time in 20 years.
To drive the knife even deeper, the team's Twitter account took aim at their opponents after the game, writing: 'Lol we left the ACC and NC State keeps on losing to us. See ya'll later.'
