Embattled GOP Congressman-elect George Santos has been spotted sporting a $7,800 Cartier watch that bears his name, sparking speculation the timepiece may be as fake as his resume.
In various photos snapped of the 34-year-old Congressman-elect over the past week, Santos could be seen wearing a timepiece made by the luxury watchmaker as part of its Santos de Cartier collection.
But, Forbes reports, it could be a fake copy of the real watch, with the counterfeit selling for just $150.
It wouldn't be the first time the Congressman from Long Island was exposed as a scammer — in fact he has made a name for himself lying about everything from his career, education, heritage and even when his mother died.
He is now being investigated in Brazil for alleged check fraud — after he went from having zero assets to contribute to his first campaign in 2020 to being able to lend more than $700,000 to his campaign this past year.
Still, Santos has remained defiant, publicly appearing on the House floor this week as Republicans continue to debate who will serve as the next Speaker.

The Santos de Cartier watch comes with two interchangeable straps, one in stainless steel and one in blue rubber.
Congressman-elect Santos seemed to be wearing both — sporting the stainless steel one on Tuesday and the blue one on Wednesday.
According to the Cartier website, the Santos watch was 'conceived by Louis Cartier in 1904 to help aviators tell time mid-flight.
It says that Cartier, himself, designed the timepiece himself for his friend, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who was struggling to check his pocket watch while flying a plane.
'Since then, this pioneering wristwatch has became an icon, defined by its geometric dial, harmoniously cured horns and signature exposed screws.'
But counterfeit ones could sell for just $150, and a luxury watch expert told Forbes 'it is impossible to be sure of the type of watch — let alone its authenticity — from the available photos.'
On Thursday, Santos appeared to elect for the rubber blue strap for the third-consecutive day of voting for a Speaker of the House

Now, some on Twitter are speculating whether or not the fraudster actually doled out the money for the expensive watch — or just bought a forgery.
Mike Elmendorf, the president and CEO of a New York contractors' association, for example, said he was betting Santos bought a forgery from Battery Park.
Another person added: 'In a turn many a producer would've rejected for being too on the nose, George Santos is wearing a *Santos de Cartier* watch, starting MSRP US$6,800.'
And Sean Ross Collins-Sweeney, a spokesperson for New York State Sen. Anna Kaplan, said he is more interested in why Santos decided to switch his band amid ongoing debates about who will be the next Speaker.
Speculation has mounted online about whether the notorious liar bought the expensive watch or simply elected to purchase a fake
Santos has already admitted to using a stolen checkbook to spend roughly $1,300 at a clothing store in the Brazilian city of Niterói back in 2008.
The checkbook reportedly belonged to a man his mother worked as a nurse for in Brazil, who died a year before she spoke with police in November 2010, according to CNN.
The outlet obtained court documents that claim Santos came clean to police in 2010, after previously speaking with them in 2008 and 2009 over the matter.
He reportedly told police he used 'some sheets' of the checkbook and destroyed the rest.
Santos' mother, the Republican reportedly told police, was in 'despair' when she asked him to return the checkbook - which he had already ruined at that point.
Santos 'acknowledged having been responsible for forging the signatures on the checks, also confirming that he had destroyed the remaining checks,' the police report says.
He reportedly came clean on a Brazilian social media website the following year, writing: 'I know I screwed up, but I want to pay.'
But on Monday, it was revealed that Brazilian authorities revived the investigation, which was stalled for nearly 10 years after authorities in Rio de Janeiro failed to locate Santos.

The incoming House member has since claimed to the New York Post that he has never committed any crimes.
'I am not a criminal here — not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world,' Santos said.
But he has admitted to lying about being employed at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, as well as attending Baruch College and New York University.
Santos was also called out for falsely claiming his grandparents were Holocaust survivors, as well as misrepresenting details about his mother's work and not disclosing that he was married to a woman until shortly before his first run for Congress in 2020.
He's now being investigated by federal and state authorities over whether his lies ever broke any laws.
Despite mounting controversies, he's still on Capitol Hill for the first and second days of the 118th Congress
The Brazilian criminal case could be the same one referenced in an account by Santos' former lover reported in the New York Times earlier on Monday.
Pedro Vilarva, who said he was 18 and Santos 26 when they began dating, accused the now-incoming lawmaker of pawning off his phone behind his back and lying about having an income.
After moving in together in 2014 after just a few months of dating Vilarva described abruptly breaking off the relationship upon discovering that Santos was wanted in Brazil.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Santos' lawyer for comment.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has been silent on Santos even as a growing number of current and incoming members of their conference have distanced themselves.
With just a slim 222-seat majority in the new Congress, every GOP vote is critical to his pursuit of the House Speakership.
