A 35-year-old man was struck and killed by an SUV as he rode his bike across a road in Denver, Colorado last month.

Logan Rocklin was died instantly after being hit by the vehicle as he cycled across a traffic crossing at the intersection of West 38th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard on December 9.

Rocklin had spent the entire day with his wife, 30-year-old Hilary van Noort, who is battling leukemia and had undergone transplant surgery only hours before the tragic accident. The couple had been married for just 11 months.

Almost one month on, the family are hoping that someone may come forward to identify the suspect responsible for the deadly hit-and-run.

Despite the release of images of a two 'vehicles of interest' by the Denver police, no suspect has yet been taken into custody.

A vigil was held on Friday night and attended by around 60 people including friends, family members, and strangers. It was organized by Rocklin's brother-in-law, Eric Elliott, who has taken the loss particularly hard.

Van Noort posted a heartbreaking Facebook message detailing her husband's accident.

'I have been utterly broken. The grief is suffocating. My best friend, my soulmate, my new husband, was killed and taken away from me,' van Noort wrote.

'He had spent the entire day by my side, holding my hand and judiciously making sure the docs were administering my transplant exactly right. He left in the early evening, after we both said “I love you, see you tomorrow",' she explained.

'He went home, snapped some cute kitty photos for me, answered some emails and then did a total Logan thing — decided to take his bike out on a mild, dry night to run a quick errand. He did everything right - wore his helmet, had his bike lights on and was using the sidewalks for added safety at night. It wasn’t enough - someone decided being in a hurry was more important than being safe - he was hit in the cross walk and killed immediately. The driver fled.

'Please hold your loved ones close and the next time you are on the road, consider slowing down just a little bit more this time.'

On Friday the family held a vigil to remember Rocklin, led by brother-in-law Elliott who has been standing at the intersection for the past 22 days, holding a sign calling for justice and seeking witnesses.

'The outpouring of community support has been pretty overwhelming,' an emotional Elliot told KDVR.

'It's been really rough. My faith in humanity has been restored. People stop by with hot chocolate. People will wave and honk, complete strangers stopping and sharing their stories of loss,' he said.

Denver Police have an image of a car they have described as a 'vehicle of interest' however the image is slightly blurry.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Rocklin's wife, van Noort, who is battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia and who had received stem-cell transplant surgery on the day of the accident. It has exceeded its goal and raised more than $88,000.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

'Come forward and do the right thing,' Elliot said. 'Please face the consequences of your actions and let your own healing begin. If it was your family or one of your brothers or sisters, you'd want the same thing.'
