World-renown journalist Bernard Kalb has died at the age of 100.
He died at his home in North Bethesda, Maryland, on January 8 after suffering complications from having a fall, his family said.
In a career that spanned over six decades, Kalb worked for CBS, NBC, The New York Times, and numerous other newspapers and media outlets before his retirement.
He was once an Army journalist during World War Two, before traveling to the South Pole, Hong Kong, and China for a host of different assignments.

He won an Overseas Press Club Award in 1968 for a documentary on the Viet Cong.
In 1986, he stepped down from his position as a State Department spokesman to protest a government disinformation campaign.
In 1993, he founded and and anchored the weekly CNN program Reliable Sources.
