'I spent 10 years in the army, I joined originally for three,' he said. 'But I couldn't resist staying and they kept dangling the carrot of different jobs for me for many years.

Furious audience members of The Late Show have slammed Prince Harry for failing to appear in front of the usually scheduled audience.

Disappointed fans of the CBS talk show visibly bristled when they were told by the host that the Duke of Sussex, 38, was not going to appear in front of them.

One loudly said, 'are you serious' after Stephen Colbert apologized to the audience for not telling them Harry was not going to be in attendance before claiming it was for security reasons.

When asked whether his children remind him of any of his elders, Harry said both Archie and Lillibet remind him of his mother.

He joked that when he met Meghan he did not think his children would end up with red hair, but said the ginger genes are 'strong' in his family.

Prince Harry has confirmed that he watches Netflix's controversial series The Crown - laughing as he revealed in a new bombshell TV interview that he has watched the 'more recent' episodes that portray 'sensationalized' accounts of his late mother Diana's bulimia battle and her bitter divorce from Charles. 

The 38-year-old made the admission during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, with a teaser trailer for the pre-taped sit-down capturing Harry laughing uproariously while joking to the TV host that he 'fact checks' the highly-criticized show.

'Yes I have actually watched The Crown,' Harry - who has a production deal with Netflix that is reported to be worth $100 million - told Colbert after the late night host asked if he had seen the series.

He said the late monarch was 'Incredibly humorous,' and said he was glad that 'she had an amazing life and an amazing career.'

Stephen Colbert took the opportunity on Tuesday to ask Harry about the time he got 'frost np' on his penis.

Harry went on a trip to the North Pole with a group of veterans when the unfortunate incident occurred.

He said he didn't realize until he got home, telling Colbert: 'It didn't turn into an icicle.'

Harry said he thins the problem is that he did not have a 'd*** cushion' with him at the time, as he had when he visited the South Pole.

But, the Duke of Sussex said: 'It's fine now, thank you.'

In the interview with Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, the Duke of Sussex said he thought for years his mother would return.

He said he thought she was alive and hiding somewhere to get away from the press, but would return one day to take him and William back.

After years of having that dream, he said he ultimately decided he would be the one to distance himself from the royal family.

The Duke of Sussex says he and Prince William were never as close as they seemed on television and in pictures, claiming their rift was not due to arguments about Meghan.

He claimed the Royal Family 'set up a narrative' that they came together following the death of their mother, Princess Diana.

'It looks a certain way,' he said, claiming he was just told to put on a happy face for the press.

But he said they were never actually close, and said the division is now 'very much being pinned on my wife.'

The Duke went on to say that if his mother had survived, he does not think he and William would have as many problems.

'No way the division between my brother and I would be the same,' he said.

Harry said in the interview with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night as he continued his book tour.

He said his family 'abused' Meghan, driving them to leave the UK and set up a home in California.

That's when he said he realized: 'Our mere existence outside of that institution' was a threat to the Royal Family.

Eventually, Harry and Meghan decided to step away from their royal duties.

The Duke of Sussex told Late Night host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night that he was not trying to boast when he said he killed 25 Afghan soldiers.

Prince Harry has kicked off the latest in a long line of TV interviews by ridiculing royal tradition and mocking the Monarchy - with the help of Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks.

The 38-year-old Duke of Sussex poked fun at his family's long-standing and much-admired tradition of pomp and circumstance during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Stephen Colbert this evening, for which he pre-filmed a skit that showed him being greeted at the CBS studios by two trumpet heralds wearing regal uniforms. 

In the video, Harry is seen rounding a corner and walking along a red carpet while the trumpeters begin their fanfare, with the Duke telling Colbert in a show of mock humility: 'Woah, woah, woah, stop, stop. Stephen, not needed, but thank you, I appreciate it.'

Prince Harry furiously slammed down accusations that he 'boasted' about killing 25 Taliban fighters in his explosive memoir Spare - while accusing his critics of 'spinning' his words and spouting 'lies' about the revelation, which he says have put his family 'in danger'.

Known for his cutting wit, the 58-year-old host of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert gave us a taster of what to expect, showing us that no one, not even royalty, can dodge his silver-tongued gibes, including the Duke of Sussex, who has penned an explosive memoir, Spare, that has sent shockwaves across the palace.

Previewing the interview, which will air tonight, Colbert teased Harry's appearance on Monday night, with the comedian comparing the royal's life to Harry Potter and joking the new book is available as a royal commemorative plate.

Prince Harry's reliability has been called into question after new information was unearthed which appears to discredit his recollection of learning the Queen Mother had died.

In his memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex wrote in painstaking detail of the call he received while at Eton, telling him his grandmother had died on March 30, 2002.

He writes: 'At Eton, while studying, I took the call. I wish I could remember whose voice was at the other end; a courtier's I believe.

'I recall that it was just before Easter, the weather bright and warm, light slanting through my window, filled with vivid colours.'

The Duke of Sussex has partly been so open about the royal family’s secrets in his memoir, Spare, because he is 'hurting', according to a trauma recovery expert.

The autobiography, published on Tuesday, contains allegations including that his brother, the Prince of Wales, physically attacked him, and that Meghan upset the Princess of Wales by saying she must have 'baby brain' in the run-up to the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding.

Dr Lisa Turner, trauma recovery expert and founder of CETfreedom, told the PA news agency Harry’s motivations could stem from 'trauma'.

She said: 'There is this sense that he really does want to let his family know he’s hurting.

'Hurt people, hurt others. They do it completely unintentionally, because their hurt is so present, they can’t perceive anyone else’s hurt.

'All behaviour has a positive intention – he’s trying to get something, whether it’s catharsis, whether it’s a reaction or response.

'It’s not an immediately obvious behaviour pattern, but when people attack, criticise or accuse another of doing something, it’s actually a sign of love.

'They want acknowledgement, recognition – they’re all forms of love.'

Dr Turner said the publication of Spare had not come at the 'ideal time' given its closeness to the King’s coronation in May and the Queen’s death last year.

New details providing context to Prince Harry's revelation he killed 25 Taliban fighters during his tours of duty in Afghanistan have come to light.

In an extract of his leaked memoir Spare published by Yahoo, the Duke of Sussex, 38, paints a picture of a reality in which he and his colleagues did what they believed necessary for the good of humanity.

Harry said: 'I was part of six missions that ended in the taking of human life, and they were all deemed justified... I deemed them the same.'

Meanwhile, 60 per cent have a positive opinion of his father Charles - about whom Harry has been scathing in his incendiary book, including descriptions of his medical ailments and the fact the King carries his teddy bear around with him - while nearly eight in ten Britons regard William - who Harry calls his 'arch-nemesis' favourably overall. 

Prince Harry should give up his royal titles and 'become Mr Windsor' if he continues to lash out at the monarchy, a Tory MP has raged.

Bob Seely, who has already criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 'Netflix narcissism', will press ahead with an attempt to pass legislation to allow their royal status to be downgraded.

He plans a Private Member's Bill that would allow a vote on amending the 1917 Titles Deprivation Act. The act was used to strip the German royal family of their UK titles during the First World War.

'If he hates the institution so much, why doesn't he… set an example and become Mr Windsor,' he told BBC Radio 4's Westminster Hour.

Battle lines have been drawn on a popular book review website over the Duke of Sussex's incendiary tell-all memoir.

Released today, Prince Harry's autobiography has ignited controversy worldwide, over bombastic behind-the-scenes claims about the rows and in-fighting plaguing the Royal Family.

And now it appears that bookworms are at war with one another - with hundreds taking to Goodreads.com to have their say on the memoir, which has polarised opinions. 

Currently, 42 per cent of 'reviewers' rate Spare as a five-star read, while half have given it the worst possible score of one-star.

But it seems most who have reviewed it did so before the book was even released, in a move that has transformed the website into a online royalist battleground between supporters of Prince Harry and those against him, who are now sniping at one another, virtually.  

One person, who gave the book a one-star review in November before its release, said: 'File this one under "I'd rather squeeze lemon juice into my eyes for a couple hours".'

While another, who also commented before the book's release giving it a five-star endorsement, pleaded: 'Can the ones who gave one star to the book that hasn’t been released yet please stop? It’s not personal, it’s just a book. I for one am interested to read it, but I find it unfair for it to get bad reviews from people who haven’t read it even.'

Meghan Markle's former 'BFF' Jessica Mulroney could be the key to revealing the truth about the Duchess' explosive bridesmaids dress row with Kate Middleton.

In his new book, Spare, Prince Harry has given his first full account of the infamous bridesmaid dress fitting at the heart of 'Megxit', claiming Princess Charlotte 'cried when she tried it on at home'. 

However in his book Revenge last year, royal author Tom Bower claimed sources told him the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Sussex, 40, disagreed over the length of the Princess' hemline and the fit of her dress, as well as whether the bridesmaids 'should wear tights' at the wedding. 

He also claimed Meghan's 'insistence' was 'supported' by her former BFF and mother of another bridesmaid Jessica Mulroney, adding: 'Some would say that Meghan compared Ivy favourably against Charlotte.'

Toronto-based Jessica was one of Meghan's closest pals prior to the apparent rift between the pair following Jessica's comments about 'white privilege'.

And her daughter Ivy was among the few little girls who served as Meghan's bridesmaids, and she featured in a number of scenes in Harry and Meghan's Netflix series. 

Catherine Ommanney, 51, was 34 when she dated the prince in 2006, said she feels 'sad for him and the Royal Family' in the aftermath of his bombshell autobiography and a string of tell-all media appearances. 

She told Good Morning Britain: 'We met at a dinner party and we had mutual friends in Australia we stayed with - that's how we started talking. He was surrounded by 20-year-olds.... I listened to him a lot, and I think that's what he needed. 

'I'm not going to slander Meghan because I think she's done a good enough job of it herself. I don't know what he's found in Meghan... I'm really sad for him, I'm sad for the whole Royal Family because I don't think he's going to recover from this very quickly.'

American courtroom star Judge Judy lambasted the Duke of Sussex in a furious rant aired on British TV this morning. 

The 80-year-old - whose real name is Judith Susan Sheindlin - launched into a searing critique during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. 

Asked about her views on the Prince's series of bombshell TV interviews, Judge Judy said she would not speak directly about Harry or Meghan.

Instead, she issued a stinging backhand, describing how she would have felt if her grandchild was speaking about her private life.

'I will tell you that I would be furious and I would think that child or that grandchild was a selfish, spoiled, ungrateful one,' she told GMB. 

'That's what I would feel. I'd be really hurt. I think anybody with a brain would see that it's disingenuous - it's biting the hand that fed you. It's unseemly.' 

The backlash against Prince Harry's frantic denials that he or his wife Meghan ever accused the Royal Family of racism has raged on for a second day, with the Duke of Sussex today facing claims that he is now 'undermining' his own fight against 'unconscious bias'.

In an incendiary interview to plug his controversial memoir Spare, the prince told ITV journalist and old friend Tom Bradby that the Royal Family were guilty of 'unconscious bias', but denied calling them racist while discussing Meghan's controversial claim to Oprah Winfrey that an unnamed royal had expressed 'concern' about Archie's skin colour.

Bradby - and millions of viewers - were left visibly stunned by Harry's screeching U-turn, which sparked a backlash and allegations that the Duke had 'hung his family out to dry' on an accusation which he helped to fuel and then left unchallenged for nearly two years.

Lawyer and activist Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, who has previously supported the Sussexes, today claimed there is 'absolutely' a 'problem of racism in the Royal Family'. Taking aim at Harry's defence of the late Queen's former lady-in-waiting Lady Susan Hussey after she was accused of racism, she called the Duke's repeated attempts to draw a distinction between racism and unconscious bias in his interviews 'disingenuous'.

The American chat show host refused to hold back on 'his Harry-ness' ahead of the Duke of Sussex's interview on his show, set to air later tonight.

King Charles's biographer has today insisted the Royal Family has been strengthened and not weakened by the 'bruising' comments in the Duke of Sussex's explosive memoir. 

Jonathan Dimbleby, whose 1994 biography of the King laid bare details of his infidelity, has insisted the monarch will be able to brush off the media savaging launched by his wayward son. 

Asked by Good Morning Britain co-host, Richard Madeley, if the monarchy had 'been damaged' by the recent claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Mr Dimbleby, 78, said:  ‘I absolutely think, oddly - perversely if you like, the monarchy is strangely strengthened by this.

‘The institution is there; he’s performing superbly in the role as head of state as the King – he will [continue to] do that.'

He added: 'I knew Harry a bit when he was young. He is a terrifically attractive, engaging, warm, friendly young man and I have no reason to think Meghan isn’t terrific either.

‘I happen to think they’ve got a hit parade record and it will run out of time – and that’s their problem.' 

Harry and Meghan's home in Montecito, California has been placed under an evacuation order with residents told to 'LEAVE NOW'.

The order came as a five-year-old boy was swept away in floodwaters and the death toll in California's mega storms climbed to 14.

A relentless string of storms has slammed the Golden State, swamping roads, battering coastlines with high surf, turning rivers into gushing flood zones and forcing the evacuation of thousands in towns with histories of deadly mudslides.

The National Weather Service said rain was expected to continue through Tuesday after dumping up to 14 inches at higher elevations in central and Southern California. After a brief respite, another storm was expected to barrel into the state in a few days, adding to the misery of the state's residents.

The King will carry out a public engagement two days after the release of the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell book.

Charles will travel to Aberdeenshire on Thursday to visit the Aboyne and Mid Deeside Community Shed for a tour of the new facilities and to meet with local hardship support groups.

It will be his first public engagement since the release of Harry’s controversial Memoir Spare which went on sale on Tuesday.

The Royal Family is yet to respond to allegations made by the Duke of Sussex in both his books and recent TV interviews plugging his autobiography. 

Harry’s book has sparked headlines for days due to claims that he was physically attacked by his brother the Prince of Wales, his revelation that he killed 25 Taliban members during the Afghanistan war, and admissions of drug-taking.

Prince Harry has revealed how his wife Meghan 'bonded' with his late grandmother the Queen by telling her how much she wanted to be a mother. 

The sweet moment happened during Meghan's first joint engagement with the late monarch, which saw them travel to Cheshire on June 14 2018, the Duke of Sussex related in his explosive memoir, Spare. 

The Duchess of Sussex came home and told Harry that she and the Queen had strengthened their bond thanks to their love of dogs, and that she had told the monarch she wanted to be a mother. 

Harry recounts that his grandmother told Meghan that the best way to induce labour was a 'bumpy car ride'. 

Harry has given his first full account of the infamous bridesmaid dress fitting at the heart of 'Megxit', claiming Princess Charlotte 'cried when she tried it on at home'.

Directly referencing his niece – a breach of privacy that is sure to anger his brother William – Harry insists the incident was driven by his sister-in-law Kate, who appeared irritated that it had taken Meghan a day to get back to her about the problem.

The disagreement between the two women was, he claims, further exacerbated by Kate's unwillingness to visit Meghan's tailor at Kensington Palace and suggestions that they hold a party for the page boys when his bride-to-be was busy dealing with a row with her father, Thomas Markle.

Harry writes that Kate complained: 'Charlotte's dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on a home.'

Meghan snapped back: 'Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?'

The Queen Consort has been stunned by Prince Harry's comments in his book and press tour, sources have claimed. 

The Duke of Sussex, 38, has launched a series extraordinary attacks on King Charles' wife Camilla, including branding her 'dangerous' and a 'villain', as he continued his publicity blitz for his explosive memoir Spare.

Harry - who also reveals in his book that he and William 'begged' their father not to marry Camilla - accuses his step-mother of 'trading information' with the press in an attempt to get more positive stories written about herself, before sensationally suggesting that her 'connections' with the media would end up with 'people or bodies left in the street'.

However sources told Vanity Fair the family had been shocked and devastated by the comments, with one saying: 'He is on a path of self-destruction. There is so much vengeance. The late Queen would have been absolutely devastated.'

Royal lovers from New Zealand to the UK have been snapping up copies of Prince Harry's controversial tell-all book today. 

The autobiography hit the shelves at midnight as part of a global launch. And fans have already started posting about their thoughts on the memoir. 

In his bombshell memoir Spare, which hit shelves today, the Duke of Sussex, 38, described the moment he introduced his brother to his girlfriend as a 'classic collision of cultures'.

The meeting took place in late 2016 at the Prince and Princess of Wales's Kensington Palace apartment, shortly before Prince Harry and Prince William went on a shooting trip.

The Duke explains how Meghan had already met Princess Eugenie, her then-boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, the Duchess of York, Prince Andrew and the Queen.

But when he introduced her to the future King, Harry wrote: 'I introduced Meg, who leaned in and gave him a hug, which completely freaked him out. He recoiled.'

Bookshops opened early this morning for the release of Prince Harry's memoir - but rather than floods of customers, staff saw barely anyone turn up.

Promotional posters on display at Waterstones in Piccadilly, Europe's largest bookshop, dubbed the autobiography 'the memoir everybody is talking about'.

But Caroline Lennon, 59, was the only one waiting to buy Spare after she walked two miles from Bethnal Green in the East End to queue from 6am.

Ms Lennon posed for photographers as she exited the shop with her copy, saying: 'I'm looking forward to listening to the audiobook straight away.'

James Bradley, 61, from Hammersmith in west London, bought a copy of Spare on his way into work to read when he goes on holiday with friends on Wednesday. He was only the 

Mr Bradley, who was only the third person to buy a copy at Waterstones in Piccadilly within an hour of its opening, said the royal family would not be damaged by the book's revelations.

'He is obviously very controversial and this book has done, I think, a lot of damage to Harry,' he added.

In his controversial autobiography 'Spare', Prince Harry reveals he would 'roll a joint' and smoke it by himself at night, at the age of 36.

The Duke of Sussex, now 38, wrote he smoked marijuana while he and his family were staying at US actor Tyler Perry's house in Los Angeles - where the drug is legal - in 2020, after they left Canada.

He wrote: 'Late at night, with everyone asleep, I'd walk the house, checking the doors and windows.

'Then I'd sit on the balcony or the edge of the garden and roll a joint. The house looked down onto a valley, across a hillside thick with frogs. I’d listen to their late-night song, smell the scented air.’

Prince Harry has revealed how he ordered his wife not to take a photo in front of the Taj Mahal as he did not want people to think she was mimicking his mother.

In 1992, Diana, Princess of Wales was pictured sitting alone at the famous landmark on a tour of India, in an image considered symbolic of the state of her relationship with Charles.

Writing in his memoir Spare, which was finally released in the UK at midnight, Harry says he and Meghan laughed about the advice he gave her ahead of a trip she was taking to India.

'Do not take a photo in front of the Taj Mahal. She'd asked why and I'd said: My mum,' he wrote.

Prince Harry and his memoirs have been ridiculed by Stephen Colbert ahead of the broadcast of their US TV interview tonight with the comedian comparing his life to Harry Potter and joking the new book is available as a royal commemorative plate.

The Duke of Sussex was also seen downing tequila shots in an interview with The Late Show in New York after being swept into the studio by armed bodyguards yesterday.

Harry is at the end of his transatlantic TV blitz promoting his new memoirs Spare, which is out today. In a series of interviews in the US and UK he has shared intimate details of his life, including losing his virginity, his use of drugs and killing 25 Taliban, as well as private conversations with his family and the deepening rift over Megxit.

But even the usually supportive liberal US media is tiring of Prince Harry’s complaints. The Left-wing, anti-British New York Times, called his remarks 'repetitive and tiresome' and suggested the 'tide seems to be turning’ in US attitudes towards the Sussexes.

Just hours before the release of his explosive tell-all memoir, Prince Harry was spotted entering a New York TV studio protected by an armed guard. 

The Duke of Sussex was in the Big Apple for an interview with The Late Show's Stephen Colbert on Monday, as he continued his media blitz to promote his bombshell book, Spare.

As the 38-year-old duke traveled to Manhattan, photos of him arriving at the studio show him accompanied by a guard carrying a Glock lock box, used to carry his pistol and ammunition.
