Tom Brady is responsible for Byron Leftwich's exit as Bucs offensive coordinator because 'it's always got to be somebody else's fault' if he underperforms, claims a furious Shannon Sharpe.
Leftwich has been dismissed by Tampa Bay after their NFL Wild Card loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, parting company with the 2020 Super Bowl winners after four seasons in charge of the offense.
The Bucs were outclassed by Dallas at Raymond James Stadium, falling to a 31-14 defeat after a dazzling display by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who outshined a below-par Brady on the night.
Three days later Leftwich paid the price for that shortcoming, with the 43-year-old fired from his position just under two years since he helped their Super Bowl LV triumph over Kansas City Chiefs.

Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe slammed the decision to fire Leftwich and blamed Brady
And Sharpe has not taken his departure too well, insisting Brady should take all the blame for it after a poor season by his typically lofty standards.
'This was coming,' the Fox Sports analyst told co-host Skip Bayless during a passionate rant. 'Byron Leftwich was gonna lose his job because Tom Brady played this year.
'And so instead of saying Tom Brady played bad this year, he did not play like the Tom Brady that we expected him to or the Tom Brady that we know and love, Byron Leftwich [is blamed] - the same guy that led you to three division titles, the same guy that called every single play when you won the Super Bowl, the same guy that you were basically a hold away from maybe winning the Divisional Round and getting back to the championship game.
'That same Byron Leftwich, now he lost his job. Because why? It's always if Tom Brady does not succeed, it's always got to be somebody else's fault. It's never his fault!'
Tampa Bay fired their offensive coordinator after their crushing playoff defeat to the Cowboys
Brady was not at his best in that game, failing to work his usual magic as the Bucs crashed out
A furious Sharpe believes the quarterback never takes responsibility when he underperforms
Under his direction, Leftwich orchestrated the No. 15 best offense in the National Football League, averaging only 346.7 yards per game. The Buccaneers barely won the NFC South - posing an 8-9 record in the process.
This past season, he seemed to struggle on offense with a game that focused heavily on passing while the run game suffered.
Yet Sharpe believes Brady's struggles were what held Tampa Bay back this season, branding the decision to fire Leftwich 'bulljive'.
'Man, this is some bulljive - and they know it's some bulljive,' he later added. 'They could find 10 offensive guys, Tom Brady didn't play well.
'Tom Brady's responsible for that man losing his job'.
