This is the moment a murder suspect attempted to make a daring getaway after hurling himself from a second-floor window while a SWAT team closed in.

Jamarri Harper, 22, remains in hospital after suffering several injuries during his unsuccessful escape, which came after police rushed to an Ohio home following reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived at the residence in Canton, located in Northeast Ohio, at around 5am Monday to discover Gary Marx, 52, with a gunshot wound to the neck.

The shooting led detectives to launch an urgent manhunt after identifying Harper as the suspect, and they then located him at a nearby residence.

But while attempting to execute a search warrant on the home, shocking surveillance footage captured Harper's audacious attempt to flee the scene.

With a SWAT team surrounding him, Harper is seen deciding to make a break for it, as he hurls himself from the second floor before stumbling away from authorities.

The swift response from law enforcement caught the small Ohio community off guard, as an unsuspecting car next to the home is seen accidentally reversing into another vehicle amid the excitement.

While law enforcement assembles outside the home, Harper is spotted sneaking out from behind the property.

He then attempts to make a quick getaway on foot, but while the 22-year-old sprints across a road he stumbles and trips as he reportedly injured himself.

Despite making it away from the home, the officers quickly realize the murder suspect is getting away and hunt him down.

While the heavily armed SWAT team lags behind, a K-9 unit saves the day as Harper is rapidly tracked down and caught.

The victim Gary Marx, of Alliance, Ohio, was rushed to hospital following the shooting after he was found unresponsive by first responders.

The horror unfolded after Marx was shot in the throat, leading his girlfriend to make a frantic 911 call while the 52-year-old struggled to breathe.

A recording of the 911 call released by police revealed the heartbreaking moment Marx's girlfriend pleaded with the dispatcher to tell her what to do, according to The Repository

She frantically told the dispatcher: 'He can't breathe. I'm losing him.'

She reportedly told the responder that she didn't know who it was that shot her boyfriend, and police have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting.

He was taken to Aultman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around half an hour later, according to police.

No mugshot has yet been released for Harper as he is reportedly still in the hospital after being injured during the arrest.

Police say Harper now faces charges of murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery, owning weapons under disability and receiving stolen property.

Harper also had several unrelated warrants out for his arrest in nearby Cuyahoga County, around 60 miles from the alleged murder.

He was being sought for numerous charges including aggravated robbery, two counts of abduction, grand theft auto, aggravated theft, and failure to comply with law enforcement.
