Serial liar George Santos had strong words for Senator Mitt Romney after the senior politician berated him before the State of the Union address last night.

Santos, who has been caught in a litany of flagrant lies since he was elected last year, said it was 'reprehensible' for Romney to call him out with 'demeaning' language, and added 'it wasn't very Mormon of him.'

Last night Romney was filmed tearing into Santos before last night's speech, and appeared to tell the New York politician 'you don't belong here' and call him an 'a**.'

After the speech Santos told reporters the confrontation wasn't the first time somebody from a 'privileged background' had tried to boss him around, and vowed to never back down.

The New York Republican, who has been caught out fabricating his college and work history as well as his status as a volleyball champion and claiming that his mother was in the World Trade Center on the day of the 9/11 attacks, is currently facing an House Ethics investigation. He told CNN he's 'not concerned' about it.

Santos sounded impassioned and angry while recalling the interaction he had with Romney.

'It's not the first time in history I've been told to shut up and go to the back of the room,' he said. 'Especially by people who come from a privileged background.'

He then took a defiant stand, promising he would not be deterred.

'And it's not gonna be that last, and I'm never gonna shut up and go to the back of the room, and I think it's reprehensible that the senator would say such a thing to me in the demeaning way he said.'

'It wasn't very Mormon of him, that's what I cant tell you,' he added before departing.

During the speech last night, Santos positioned himself in an aisle seat which would guarantee he would be prominently visible during television broadcasts of the address, along with put him in a prime position to shake hands with Supreme Court justices, cabinet secretaries, and even the president as they enter the chamber.

But Santos got rather more than he bargained for. Video footage showed Sen. Mitt Romney confront the serial liar, saying what looked to be 'You don't belong here.'

Santos, looked shocked, even as he appeared to fire back at the Senator.

Romney appeared to repeat the same words several times to Santos, which looked to include several admonishments including calling him an 'a**.'

After the speech Romney told reporters he hoped Santos would soon be ousted from Congress.

'He shouldn't be in Congress and they're going to go through the process and hopefully get him out,' Romney said. 'But he shouldn't be there and if he had any shame at all he wouldn't be there.'

Santos described the encounter with Semafor reporter Kadia Goba.

He claimed Romney started off by saying 'you don't belong here'.

'Go tell that to the 142,000 who voted for', Santos claimed he said in response.

'You're an a**,' Romney says. 'You're a much bigger a**hole', Santos responds.

Santos, who at first darted through hallways on Capitol Hill to avoid reporters and kept quiet on his lies, has now taken on a more aggressive media strategy.

'Hey @MittRomney just a reminder that you will NEVER be PRESIDENT!' he tweeted after the terse exchange gained traction on Twitter.
