Teen who survived Oxford shooting describes hiding under desk at MSU

A teenager who survived the Oxford High School shooting 15 months ago has described the horror of having to hide under her desk to avoid another deranged gunman at MSU on Monday. 

Emma Riddle, now 18, was just 17 when Ethan Crumbley shot up her high school. 

The teenager survived that attack but was left traumatized. She graduated from Oxford in 2022 and won a place at Michigan State University. 

But on Monday night, she found herself hiding once again and texting her parents begging them to collect her when Anthony McRae, a jobless 43-year-old 'mama's boy', opened fire. 

Emma's father Matt told DailyMail.com of their shared terror and rage at having to experience such terror twice.

'She is doing OK, considering. In her words, because she has been through it before it feels more navigable, which breaks my heart. 

'[There is] anger and frustration that someone you work so hard to protect has to face something so horrific not once but twice,' her father said.

Mr. Riddle also shared his disgust at the fact Google Maps had an 'shooting' alert. 

'This was at 2am last night when I was picking up Emma from MSU. 

'Google has a TRAFFIC ALERT for mass shootings because our broken country needs one. Unbelievable,' he tweeted. 

Emma had tweeted: '14 months ago I had to evacuate from Oxford High School when a fifteen year old opened fire and killed four of my classmates and injured seven more.

'Tonight, I am sitting under my desk at Michigan State University, once again texting everyone “I love you” 

'When will this end?' 

There are 20 Oxford High School survivors who also attend MSU. 

Jackie Matthews, 21, took to TikTok to describe surviving Sandy Hook as an 11-year-old. 

'I am 21 years old and this is the second mass shooting I have now lived through 10 years and two months ago I survived the Sandy Hook shooting.

'I was hunched in the corner with my classmates for so long that I got a PTSD fracture in my back,' the student, who goes by Jmattttt on TikTok said. 

'The fact this is now the second shooting I have lived through is incomprehensible. 

'We can no longer just provide love and prayers.

'It needs to be legislation, it needs to be action. It's not OK,' she said.
