Marine sues ex-girlfriend over harassment including sending naked photos of him to family members

A former Marine has sued his ex-girlfriend, who he claims has spent years subjecting him to a campaign of abuse, including posting X-rated photos of him on Craigslist and using 22 different phone numbers to harass him. 

A lawsuit filed in New Jersey alleges his former partner, Deza'rae Collins, 'embarked on a years-long course of harassment,' because she was 'unable to handle' their breakup. 

The man, identified only as 'S.S.,' says in the court documents he has lost 'multiple jobs' and has been forced to change his phone number 100 times because of Collins' actions.

The alleged harassment included sending racy photos he had sent her in private to his current girlfriend and other family members, causing strained relationships. 

'I didn't think this would be something I would have to drag around with me forever and something I would have to explain to every romantic partner I would ever have,' the New Jersey man told the New York Post.

The lawsuit alleges Collins, who the plaintiff met in 2015, continued her conduct even after the plaintiff had filed multiple police reports against her. 

S.S.'s lawyer, Daniel Szalkiewicz, claims in the suit that the defendant has shared illicit photos of the plaintiff 77 times since October 1, 2022, without his consent. 

One photo allegedly posted on Craigslist by Collins shows the plaintiff naked in front of a mirror, with his phone number and social security number included. 

'LOST HAVE YOU SEEN ME? RAPIST PEDOPHILE NARCISSIST,' is also inserted, the suit states.

The photos were sent to Collins in private while he was deployed for a year-and-a-half and while she was living in Oregon, the suit states.  

S.S. claims he often had no cellular service throughout his deployment and said when he would dock, he would be shocked to find an exorbitant number of calls and texts from Collins.

'My phone would explode with texts,' he told The Post.  

'I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to break up with her,' S.S. continued. 

The man claims she didn't take the break-up well and that she was pushing back against his decision and attempting to reconcile. 

At some point, Collins- a behavioral sciences student at Oregon Health and Science University according to ResearchGate- allegedly began calling S.S.'s parents and even sent a letter containing a naked picture of him.

The man's current girlfriend says that in the span of 10 days, Collins contacted him more than 5,000 times. 

The girlfriend corroborated the information from ResearchGate which states Collins works in the behavioral sciences field. 

'That's scary,' the woman told The Post.  

She also says she was recently fired from her job after her boss told her they didn't want to be caught up in the drama of the situation. 

The girlfriend had been forced to take time off to go to court and speak with the police. 

In total, the former Marine and his counsel allege Collins sent two videos and 12 images nearly 80 times via text message.  

'She doesn't give up,' S.S. said.

The plaintiff said he has tried to get restraining orders against her but his travels for the Marines and their residencies in different states, his girlfriend claims. 

According to The Post, S.S. and his family obtained a restraining order against Collins in early February.  

The list of wrongs allegedly committed by Collins includes sharing explicit photos of the plaintiff with Craigslist and his family members, including his mother and siblings

S.S. is suing Collins for at least $150,000 per image and an injunction stopping the woman from sharing any photos of the plaintiff in the future. 

'I want it to cease and be done with,' S.S. said in the interview. 

The former Marine's girlfriend agreed saying: 'I hope she will leave us alone.' 

Szalkiewicz said in a statement: 'Our client has lost years of his life to Defendant's harassment, always fearing when and how Defendant would strike next.

'His intimate images have been shared with his family, his fiancée's family, and the world at large,' Szalkiewicz said.
