Starbucks have recalled more than 300,000 bottles of ready-to-drink Vanilla Frappuccino over fears they may contain glass.

The drink, which is distributed by PepsiCo, is currently sold nationwide but 25,200 cases - each containing 12 bottles - have been voluntarily recalled.

A total of 302,400 bottles are therefore being removed from the marketplace, in a process that began on January 28.

According to the Food and Drug administration site, a 'foreign object' was located in the drinks, which turned out to be glass.

The bottled drinks are not sold in Starbucks outlets but instead are found in supermarkets as an on-the-go beverage.

The recall is labelled as a Class II, which carries a 'lower chance' of major injuries or death but still has a warning of 'serious enough adverse events to have irreversible consequences,' according to the New York Times

Accidentally swallowing sharp objects like glass could injure the thin walls of the esophagus, leading to bleeding or infection. As it leaves the body, it could also risk tearing the intestines.

If you're wondering whether your tasty drink is one of those recalled, expiration dates to look out for are March 8, May 29, June 4 and June 10 this year.

The UPC number is 0 12000-81331 3 and you can call 1-800-211-8307 if you believe your product to be affected.

Although the bottled Frappuccino range also offers flavors such as caramel and mocha, only the 13.7 Fl Oz vanilla edition, which contains around 290 calories, has been impacted by the potential hazard.

Starbucks has previously made headlines over the past year for firing workers who have attempted to unionize.

In December workers across 100 US stores went on strike after the CEO continued to block unionization efforts. They held up signs such as those reading 'No contract, no coffee!'

The company closed the first location that unionized in its hometown of Seattle.

And in November, workers at 110 stores held a one-day walkout

More than 264 of 9,000 company-run stores in America have voted to unionize since late last year.

Starbucks opposes the unionization effort, saying it functions better when it works directly with employees.

In a statement, PepsiCo told ABC news: 'The impacted products have best by dates of March 8, 2023; May 29, 2023; June 4, 2023; and June 10, 2023 and were distributed across the United States

'The removal of these products from the marketplace is currently underway. The products are not sold at Starbucks retail locations.

'The North American Coffee Partnership is committed to a high level of quality in the products we serve.

'Delivering a quality experience to our consumers is our top priority and we always act with an abundance of caution whenever a potential concern is raised.'
