Three-year-old boy and father 53, found shot dead in 'murder-suicide' at luxury Miami condo

A three-year old boy and his 53-year-old father were found shot dead in a 'murder-suicide' at a luxury condo in Miami where apartments sell for up to $9 million.

The father, Jose Manuel Gonzalez Testino, was about to face sentencing for a bribery and money laundering scheme from 2021. He and his young son Jose Manuel Gonzalez were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a unit at the Grove at Grand Bay Condominiums Association on Wednesday around 8pm.

The boy's mother contacted Miami police asking them to perform a welfare check after she grew concerned that she did not hear from her son's father.

When the officers were unable to break down the door, the terrified mother went to the condo herself, ran up to one of the top units, and once inside made the horrifying discovery, the Miami Herald reported.

Miami Public Information Officer Michael Vega confirmed to DailyMail.com that the man was the boy's father, and said, that 'he had the child legally since Monday.'

It is unclear if the parents of the boy were in a custody dispute.

Jose Manuel Gonzalez Testino, was about to face sentencing for a bribery and money laundering scheme from 2021.

Police said the boy lives with his mother but had been staying with his father since Monday.

Relatives had contacted police on Wednesday informing them that they had not heard from the child's father, which was unusual, authorities said.

The boy also didn’t show up for soccer practice.

On Thursday morning, police, crime scene investigators, a medical examiner's van and a chaplain from the police department were on the scene.

Gonzalez Testino, a businessman was about to enter a federal prison on charges related to a bribery and corruption scheme connected to Venezuela's petroleum company PDVSA, and its US subsidiary, Citgo. 

He had pleaded guilty in May 2019. 

According to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas-Houston Division, he had five extensions of the sentencing.

The Grove at Grand Bay Condominiums Association built in 2016 are two 20-story towers that feature 98 total residences ranging from 4 to 6 bedrooms. 

The building's iconic signature 'twist' design offers 254 uniquely different views of the Biscayne and Miami skyline views, according to the condo's website.
