Foodie Instagram page Nutra Organics shocked followers with the revelation.
'Learning that paprika is just dried and crushed red capsicum was really shocking. I don't know why I thought there was a paprika tree somewhere,' they posted on the page.
The seasoning, which features heavily in Hungarian and Spanish cooking, is made by drying capsicum and then grinding it into a fine dust.
This fact shocked and confused many, with hundreds admitting they hate the vegetable but adore paprika.

'This just ruined my day,' one man said.

Foodies couldn't understand how paprika comes in different variations if it's made from the same vegetable.
