A hair stylist known for her metre-long locks has shared the simple conditioner trick she swears by - and how it has 'saved' hundreds of women's hair.

Sophie, from Sydney, who goes by the name The Aussie Rapunzel on TikTok, said you should never apply your conditioner to soaking wet locks.

Instead, you should wring out 'all of the water in your hair' before you apply any product.

The reason why you should do this is because applying conditioner on sopping wet hair makes the product slide right off and prevents maximum penetration.

On the flip side, wringing out your hair first means it has the chance to coat the fibres and absorb properly - meaning fewer split ends and silkier, shinier hair.

'This conditioner tip has gone viral and I've had someone in the grocery store stop me and tell me it saved their hair,' Sophie said in the video.

'It's very simple, and some of you might already do it, but wring out all the water in your hair before you apply conditioner.

'This way it's not diluted, your hair stays hydrated and you will have fewer split ends.

She added: 'Try it next time and thank me later.'

Thousands who saw the clip were quick to thank the hair stylist for sharing it, and said they never knew that this was the case with conditioner.

'The split ends in my hair are crazy, I hope this works,' one woman wrote.

'I tried it and it really works,' another added.

Previously, Sophie shared why an apple cider vinegar rinse is the secret to sleek and shiny hair.

'This is how I get super shiny hair and avoid frizz. The apple cider vinegar rinse helps to clarify your hair when there's product build-up,' Sophie said in another clip.

First she poured a small amount of apple cider vinegar into an empty jug then filled it with water to dilute the acidity.

The apple cider vinegar rinse was then incorporated into her routine when washing her hair.

'I wash my hair as normal, apply the rinse then wash it out with cold water,' The Aussie Rapunzel said.

She claims the rinse will leave your hair looking 'super sleek and shiny' after just one rinse.
