The Minnesota Vikings are set to sign former Arizona Cardinals star cornerback Byron Murphy to a two-year deal worth $22million, according to multiple reports.

Murphy spent the first four years of his career with the Cardinals after being drafted with the first pick of the second round in the 2019 NFL Draft after staring at the University of Washington.

Over the course of his five seasons Murphy recorded 229 tackles, five interceptions, five fumble recoveries, three sacks, and a defensive touchdown.

Last season he recorded 36 tackles before his season was cut short after only nine games due to injury.

The 26-year-old Murphy was one of the top corners in this year's free agent market and thrives in man-to-man coverage, whether it be on the outside or in the slot.

Minnesota was in desperate need of help in the secondary especially after the departure of veteran corner Patrick Peterson, who departed to join the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite Peterson's departure the Vikings have been active during the legal tampering period in an attempt to solidify the roster on both sides of the ball.

Earlier, the Vikings re-signed center Garrett Bradbury to a three-year deal worth $15.75M.

The team also reached an agreement with starting quarterback Kirk Cousins on Tuesday to change bonus language in his existing contract that saved them $16 million in cap charges for 2023.

On Tuesday Minnesota started off the legal tampering period by agreeing to terms with former New Orleans defensive end Marcus Davenport and former Baltimore tight end Josh Oliver.

Davenport agreed to a one-year, $13 million contract after several up-and-down seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He had a career-high nine sacks in just 11 games in 2021, but he only had a half-sack last season.

The 2018 first round pick spent the 2022 offseason recovering from shoulder surgery and multiple procedures on his pinky finger, which was partially amputated.

Oliver agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with $10.75 million in guaranteed money and attainable incentives that would push the total value to $24 million. He was the highest-ranked tight end in run blocking in 2022 by Pro Football Focus.

He was a third-round draft pick by Jacksonville out of San Jose State in 2019, but he played in only four games in two seasons for the Jaguars. He suffered a severe hamstring injury in his first training camp and, after a brief return, saw his rookie season end with a back injury.

The following year, he broke a bone in his foot in camp and was again placed on season-ending injured reserve. The Jaguars traded him the next spring to the Ravens, for whom he had a limited role in 14 games in 2021.

Oliver flourished as a run blocker last season, playing in all 17 games and 47% of the snaps on offense. He had 14 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
