Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is willing to make a monumental sacrifice to help the Houston Astros, or at least to help see them beat the New York Yankees once again.
Wahlberg was attending the Astros season opener on Thursday which saw them suffer a unexpected defeat to the Chicago White Sox, when he said he would donate a thumb to injured superstar Jose Altuve.
'It's going to have something to do with my favorite Yankee killers,' Wahlberg responded when asked how he'll give the traditional 'Play Ball!' call before Thursday's game.
'I am also willing to donate either one of my thumbs to Jose Altuve for sure … I am a big fan.'
Altuve is currently sidelined for an extended period of time after under going surgery for a broken thumb he suffered during the World Baseball Classic.

Although Wahlberg is a Boston native and a well noted lifelong Red Sox fan, he has found himself rooting for the Astros much more ever since they swept the Yankees in the last season's American League Championship Series.
The A-list star also had praise for the Astros' 'Yankee killer' third baseman Alex Bregman.
'He's an amazing guy and he's also my favorite Yankee killer of all time,' Wahlberg told reporters pregame.
'I've been a big, big fan of his for a while. We just became close friends.
'I'm just here to support him. I was rooting for him all the way through, of course, when my Red Sox were out, you know, I was right on the Astros bandwagon. Of course, once they swept the Yankees, he became my favorite Yankee killer.'
'I am an Astros fan,' Wahlberg continued. 'Listen, I live in Nevada now, I'm a fan of real talent. And, you know what, they have an amazing team, and he has amazing talent, but he's also an amazing person, so I'm a big fan of his, especially.'
Walhberg and the rest of Houston's fanbase will certainly be hoping the Astros can rebound from last night's defeat that saw Andrew Vaughn's tiebreaking, two-run double in the ninth inning lift Chicago to a 3-2 win over the defending World Series champions.
The Astros also had Houston native and three-time Grammy award winner Megan Thee Stallion throw out the first pitch in Thursday's opener to kick off their title celebration and defense.
