How social media reacted to Donald Trump's monumental day in court

Meme-makers had a field day as former president Donald Trump was arrested in Manhattan Tuesday on multiple felony charges of false business practices.

As the first former president to face criminal charges, Trump was arraigned, fingerprinted and photographed at the downtown Manhattan courthouse after spending the night at Trump Tower in NYC.

He entered a plea of not guilty before immediately returning to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida where he delivered a rousing 25-minute speech in front of crowds of supporters.

The former president lambasted the 'Trump-hating judge with a Trump-hating wife' and a 'real criminal' DA, who he claimed leaked grand jury information, to rapturous applause.

But the circus proved a real treat for the best of social media's meme makers who poked fun at Melania Trump's notable absence from Trump's rally, likening her to Julia Roberts singing in a bathtub in the film Pretty Woman.

Another showed Donald Trump Jr. reading a kids book titled 'The Night Dad Went to Prison,' and a third showed a forecast calling for 'mostly stormy' weather Tuesday with a picture of Stormy Daniels - the porn star who Trump's hush-payments to sparked his indictment - instead of a cloud icon. 

Not all the memes poked fun at the Trumps, however, with some commenting on how the former president's arrest would bolster his supporters in a way they'd never been rallied before.

It came after a former Trump lawyer compared the former president to hip-hop artists Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., whose record sales reached new heights after they were arrested and embroiled in legal battles.
