Candace Owens has revealed that interior designer David Netto told her husband he would ‘rather get beat in the a** with a wooden plank’ than work on their Nashville home.

Conservative commentator Owens said her husband, British businessman George Farmer, wrote ‘the most polite email’ approaching Netto and complained that his response would be deemed unacceptable if it had been sent to a ‘black liberal’.

She added: ‘They would’ve said it was like Jim Crow.’

The mother-of-two, 33, recounted the spat in a lengthy interview with Vanity Fair, in which she spoke about her media career as an outspoken black Republican, her changing views on Donald Trump - and even a potential run for office of her own.

The firebrand sparked controversy at Paris Fashion Week last year when she tweeted a picture of her and Kanye West wearing White Lives Matter T-shirts.

The incident thrust Owens into the limelight and preceded the musician’s descent into anti-Semitic rants on Twitter, which included praise for Hitler.

Owens was criticized for failing to condemn West on her Daily Wire show, which has a million and a half subscribers and airs as a podcast and on YouTube.

The rapper later agreed to buy Farmer's ‘free speech platform’ Parler, which is popular with the far right.

The site has been banned by Apple, Google and Amazon for allowing hate speech and is popular with Trump supporters, including some who participated in the US Capitol unrest on January 6.

Owens spoke of Netto’s hostile reaction after saying she was treated kindly by Nashville locals and even spoke of a positive encounter with Kamala Harris at the airport, whom she described as 'very nice'.

Owens said she approached the vice president, adding: 'I can’t help myself. I told her I wasn’t going to vote for her, and she was like, “Yeah, okay. I understand.” It was a very nice conversation.’

She said her husband reached out to Netto, who has written on design for the New York Times, after the couple saw his work in one of their friend's homes.

'My husband wrote the most polite email because he's always polite, he's very English,' Owens said. 'We didn’t know if we could afford a designer or anything.'

She said Netto wrote back: 'Dear George, thank you for your inquiry. I'd rather get beat in the a** with a wooden plank than ever go near either of you. Kind regards, David.'

Owens suggested that if a 'white conservative male' had sent the brutal put down to 'an outspoken black liberal, he would’ve lost everything'.

Netto told Vanity Fair he'd only addressed Farmer and that it was about ‘morality’, not race. He added: ‘After January 6, the joke’s over. People like this should expect to be recognized as complicit with something very dangerous—and I don’t mean Kanye—and expect to be told off in polite society.

‘Without Parler the Proud Boys couldn’t talk to each other, so that’s enough for me…They’ll find somebody to do their house, and I’m sure it will be beautiful.’

Owens has previously been a vocal Trump cheerleader, but slammed him after the Republican candidates he endorsed for the midterm elections failed to win their seats.

She said on her Daily Wire show that she'd been suspicious of the former president since he was rude to her following an interview where they clashed on the COVID-19 vaccine.

Owens had previously criticized Trump - saying he was out of touch with his support base after he came out in favor of the vaccine. Trump then turned on her, she claimed.

She was told by mutual friends that Trump had someone 'egging him on' to be angry with Owens - and that he eventually said: 'Yeah, I'm so mad at Candace.'

The pundit revealed that the next time she saw Trump: 'He was actually rude to me.

'I'm telling you this personal story because I think it is something that made me for the first time question me as a person.'

But she suggested to Vanity Fair that she had not ruled out backing him for the Republican nomination, nor a run for office herself.

Owens said she’d ‘like to see who’s running in 2024’ and ‘who has the best vision’ before deciding who to endorse.

Of a possible run of her own, she said she would ‘never say never’. ‘You might have spoken to me seven years ago and told me that I was going to vote for Trump, be working for the Daily Wire, I would’ve told you to go easy on the drugs,’ she added. ‘And so I follow the perspective that we have our plans and God laughs.’

Owens had previously been a staunch Trump supporter and had married Oxford graduate Farmer at the Trump Winery in Virginia, owned by Eric Trump.

They were joined by a raft of equally conservative guests, including actor Jon Voight, radio host Larry Elder, Brexiteer Nigel Farage and Charlie Kirk, who founded right-wing Turning Point USA.

Owens first came out in favor of Trump in 2017 and has described him as the 'savior' of Western civilization.

She slammed conservatives for being spineless and not speaking up after claiming Democrats were trying to use the Capitol riots as justification to treat 'half our country like terrorists'.

Owens, 29, was the communications director for Turning Points USA, a conservative youth organization.

She has made a name for herself by making controversial claims about race relations in the US and through an alliance with Kanye West.

Owens' beliefs include that former president Barack Obama is to blame for disintegrating race relations in America and that West is one of the 'bravest men' in the country for publicly showing his support for Trump, who has an approval rating of 10% among African Americans.

In 2018, she co-founded the 'Blexit' movement, which encourages black Americans to distance themselves from the Democratic Party. She has also appeared on Fox and Friends where she shared her extreme beliefs that black Americans are being held down by the party.

Owens notoriously dislikes Black Lives Matter, which she labels as a group of 'whiny toddlers'.

The young commentator gained attention when Kanye West tweeted that he 'liked the way she thinks' last year.

She replied desperately asking him for a meeting and telling him how much he inspired her.

In addition to working for Turning Points, she runs a YouTube channel and show where she interviews guests and discusses national issues.

Among her recent guests was Roseanne Barr who was fired by ABC last year for writing a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett.

Owens gave her a sympathetic ear as the pair discussed the #MeToo movement and Barr labeled some of the women who have come forward to say they have been the victims of sexual harassment and assault in work as 'hoes'.
