White Lotus star F. Murray Abraham was axed from an Apple TV+ series last year after two complaints of sexual misconduct were made against him.

The 83-year-old Oscar-winning actor was suddenly announced to be leaving Mythic Quest last April – which Rolling Stone confirmed came from the complaints.

At least two complaints have been made against Abraham, with the first resulting in him being issued a warning and told to keep away from some of the shows' actresses.

A production source told Rolling Stone that after the second incident was brought to the attention of Rob McElhenney – who created the show – the actor was let go.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Lionsgate said: 'We take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

'As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.'

At the time Abraham did not comment, with the producing studio simply confirming that he would be stepping away from the show.

It is unclear exactly who made the allegations against the star which caused him to leave.

McElhenney, Abraham and Apple TV+ did not immediately respond to requests for comment by DailyMail.com.

Abraham joined the comedy series as C.W. Longbottom, and was killed off in the premiere of season three, which was aired in November.

He drove off a cliff into the Grand Canyon in a Thunderbird after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Speaking to Variety at the time his departure was announced, McElhenney said: 'It's a bummer to not have Murray in this season.

'But we recognize that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously a huge part of the show.

'So, we made sure that we have a really fitting tribute to him. We definitely address it in a big way.'

He landed a role in the second season of HBO’s White Lotus and appeared in Netflix’s upcoming anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
