Stephen A. Smith says Anthony Davis 'should be ashamed of himself' after Lakers' loss at Grizzlies

Stephen A. Smith descended into a dramatic diatribe while criticizing Anthony Davis for a 'shameful performance' in the Lakers' loss to an undermanned Memphis in Game 2.

LA struggled from the onset in Tennessee despite Ja Morant, and big men Steven Adams and Brandon Clark, all missing for the Grizz.

Memphis tied the series at 1-1 with a 103-93 in which Davis scored just 13 points, to go with eight rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes.

'It was shameful, especially by Anthony Davis,' Smith said of both the Lakers and the ex-Kentucky star on First Take.

'He should be ashamed of himself the way he played last night. I will remind you that Steven Adams is gone. I will remind you that Brandon Clark is gone.

'I will remind you that some dude named Xavier Tillman rolled up in there and had 22 points and 13 rebounds -- that's a shameful performance. You know, coming into this series, long before Ja Morant got hurt. Anthony Davis has to be the focus.'

Davis attempted was 2/12 shooting after three quarters and Smith laid blame squarely at the size-17 feet of the Lakers big.

'It's your series and you don't show up for a game two. Do you know what kind of hole that puts Memphis down if they're down 0-2? Have to go back to LA... you could secure the series and Anthony Davis didn't show up.

'He was nowhere to be found. That is unconscionable. If this becomes a series' enough time for Ja Morant to get back, and God forbid you lose this series. We're going to look at Game 2 as a missed opportunity, and that missed opportunity was by one man.

'The one person that you were supposed to be able to rely on, that literally looks like the big man on campus with a bunch of smalls around them was Anthony Davis. And he was a no show.'

Memphis superstar Morant was not ready to go for Wednesday's Game 2, but will have a far better chance of involving himself in Tinseltown with Game 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday respectively.

Irrespective of the outcomes, the Lakers-Grizzlies series will stretch five games at a minimum, meaning Morant could have until at least April 28 to make his second appearance in the first round.
