The incident happened at a XPW Wrestling deathmatch event in Pomona, California, last Saturday.

Wrestler Masada, 41, had been trying to blow a fireball at his opponent using a flaming torch and a substance he poured into his mouth.

Speaking to TMZ, the wrestler said he was still in the burns unit of a nearby medical facility recovering from the incident.

He said: 'My face is healing up fast, just the rest is going to take a while.

'I've done that spot a lot when I wrestled in Japan, but it was rushed and I think being outside had something to do with it.'

According to one Twitter user who shared footage of the incident, Masada managed to continue with the wrestling match despite his injuries.
