NFL fans won't have to wait much longer to find out when their teams will be back in action as the league will release the schedule for the 2023 season in less than two weeks, according to a report.

The tentative date for the schedule release has been slated for May 11, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and scheduling guru Howard Katz are reportedly set to meet Monday to begin planning next season's fixtures.

The official date of the release is expected to be released following their sit-down.

The date for the schedule usually isn't announced until a couple of months into the offseason and usually lands sometime in May.

With the league's spectacular Super Bowl finale now almost three months ago and the 2023 Draft wrapped, the NFL is likely to gear up towards the next season.

However, Schefter suggested that other issues were at play with two conflicts needing to be resolved before the league could give the go-ahead on planning for the next season.

The league reportedly wanted to wait until Aaron Rodgers' trade to the Jets was finalized and Lamar Jackson's contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens was hashed out.

Rodgers' trade saga has been dragged out for the majority of the offseason, since the Green Bay Packers failed to clinch a playoff spot.

After considering retirement and a return to the Packers, Rodgers ultimately requested a move to New York last month.

The teams finally agreed to a deal on Monday that sent the 39-year-old quarterback from Green Bay to the New Jersey-based Jets, but only after weeks of posturing and tedious negotiations.

New York received not only Rodgers but the Packers' No. 15 pick and a fifth-rounder in Thursday's NFL Draft. In exchange, Green Bay received the Jets' 13th overall draft choice, plus its second and sixth-rounder, and a conditional 2024 second-round pick, which will become a first if Rodgers plays 65 percent of snaps this season.

Meanwhile, the spectacle surrounding the Ravens and their 26-year-old field general also came to an end this week.

The Ravens used its $32.41 million non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson in the offseason after the player requested to be traded, worrying fans about what was to come for the 2023-24 season.

However, the year-long drama was put to rest Thursday when it was announced that the quarterback had finally agreed to fresh terms on an extension.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the 2018 first-round pick has agreed to a new five-year deal, worth $260M, including $185M in guaranteed money.

With the futures of two of its big stars now resolved, the NFL feels comfortable to move forward with the schedule release according to the report.
