As summer approaches, many Americans may be looking for a staycation spot to rent.

For the rich and famous, they may be looking at hotspots such as the Hamptons, Massachusetts gems like Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, or Californian celebrity haunt Palm Springs.   

Many of these homes boast at least 10 bedrooms, private pools or beaches, acres of land - and more unusual features such as basketball courts, home spas and even a 750 gallon shark tank. 

But a staycation stay in one of these destinations can set you back over $2 million to rent from Memorial Day - May 29 - to Labor Day - September 4. 

Here, we rounded up the priciest holiday homes across the US where the country's wealthiest residents will be summering this year.
