Morgan Wallen cancelling shows for the next six weeks after receiving 'bad news' from doctors  

Country singer Morgan Wallen has announced he will have to cancel shows for the next six weeks after receiving 'bad news' from doctors.

In video posted to his Instagram account on Wednesday, Wallen revealed he 're-injured' his vocal cords after taking 10 days of vocal rest and then performing three shows over the weekend. 

Doctors have now advised him to go on vocal rest for six weeks, and warned if he continued singing he would 'permanently damage' his voice. 

His six-week hiatus means he will have to skip performing at the ACM Awards, set to take place in just two days. 

'They told me that if I do this the right way, that I'll get back to 100%,' Wallen, 29, informed fans. 'And they also said if I don't listen and I keep singing, I'll permanently damage my voice.'

'So for the longevity of my career, this is just the choice I had to make.' 

This news comes several weeks after Wallan was forced to cancel his show at Oxford, Mississippi last-minute after losing his voice. That health issue prompted the cancellation of several other shows. 

'I got some bad news from the Vanderbilt Voice Center yesterday. After taking 10 days of vocal rest, I performed three shows last weekend in Florida and by the third one I felt terrible,' Wallen began in his latest video. 

'So I went in and got a scope yesterday and they told me I reinjured my vocal chords and that I have vocal fold trauma. Their advice is that I go on vocal rest for six weeks, so that's what I'm gonna do. They want me not to talk at all but they said if I need to, it's OK for something like this.   

'Also I tore my lat while we were in Australia, I've been trying to work through that quietly but this time off is gonna help me get that right as well. We're working on rescheduling all the dates here in this time frame. 

'We almost got that done but some of them are pending so I will keep you updated. I won't be able to make these festivals that I have here in this time frame, but we are gonna make those right in next year.'

Wallen added he would also have to skip performing at the ACM Awards, but added, 'But y'all make sure you still go. It's for a great cause.' 

'So for the longevity of my career, this is just the choice I had to make,' he told fans

Wallen has 14 shows scheduled for the next six weeks, and fans will be able to attend his future rescheduled performances using tickets from the original dates, an agency representing the singer said, according to Al.com.

'Tickets for the original dates will be honored for all rescheduled performances.

'A 30-day refund window will open at point of purchase when new dates are announced imminently.'

Wallen announced his return to the stage just days ago following his initial cancellation.

'What's up, everybody? I just wanted to let you know I am in Jacksonville, we are going to play a show tonight — and all weekend,' the Last Night star shared from the venue in Florida, adding, 'I wouldn't say I'm 100% but I'm doing a lot better.'

'And to everyone in Oxford, I just wanted to reiterate how sorry I am for the way that went down,' he said of the last-minute cancelation, 'I thought I was going to be good to go and I just wasn't.'

The singer-songwriter went on to reveal that he and his team are currently working on getting a new date for the missed show.

'We're working on a rescheduled date — we are close to having a rescheduled date, I just don't have the exact one yet. So as soon as I do, I'll let you know.'

While Wallen is one of country music's biggest stars, he's no stranger to controversy.

He was caught on camera in 2021 returning to his home in Nashville, Tennessee, yelling profanities and a racial slur.

He apologized at the time but was suspended indefinitely from his label and his music was pulled by radio stations and streaming services.
