This is the shocking moment rock band The View's eagerly anticipated comeback descended into an on-stage brawl - when the lead singer appeared to throw a punch at the bassist and screamed 'I'm going to kill you'.

Fan Jason Daniels was stunned when the Scottish band - best known for their hit, Same Jeans, which got to number three in the charts in 2007 - had to cut short their gig at the Deaf Institute in Manchester last night.

It was their first performance in more than five years, having last been seen in their hometown of Dundee in 2017 - a decade on from when their platinum-selling, chart-topping album Hats Off to the Buskers was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

Jason, 39, claims he noticed bickering between front man Kyle Falconer and bassist Kieren Webster before the latter kicked a microphone stand.

His shocking footage then shows Kyle appearing to throw a punch as others are trying to break them apart.

The enraged front man even follows the swing by shouting 'I'll f***ing kill you'.

The View: The platinum-selling Scottish indie rock band who were back on stage for the first time in over five years

A Scottish indie rock band, The View are best known for their 2007 hit Same Jeans, which got to number three in the UK singles charts.

The group is made up of lead vocalist, Kyle Falconer, Kieren Webster on bass and backing vocals, lead guitarist Pete Reilly, drummer Jay Sharrock and Darren Rennie on keyboards.

The band hold a reputation for their live performances with regularly sold-out tours in Scotland in particular, but have also been a fixture at a number of music festivals, including playing Scotland's biggest, T in the Park, a record eight times.

He said: 'If you want, I think you should maybe ask Kieran to come up and finish the set. The problem with this band is he wants to sing the songs and he can't, right.'

The band have also since announced via social media that tonight's gig in London won't be going ahead.

A statement said: 'Unfortunately we are having to postpone tonight's London show. Our promoter is working to resolve the situation. Please keep hold of your tickets for now and we will make a further announcement in a few days. Massive apologies to all our fans.'

Daniel says the packed Deaf Institute was stunned to silence during the brawl but chatter turned to whether they'd be getting a refund as they left.

The father-of-three admits he was disappointed he didn't get to see one of his favourite bands complete set but claims the incident was 'real rock n' roll'.

His video has been seen more than 300,000 times on Twitter.

Daniel, from Sale, Greater Manchester, said: 'It was proper rock n roll. Kyle just flipped. It was your typical playground altercation.

'I was surprised by it. I've been to gigs in the past where stuff's happened but nothing like that.

'It was bittersweet because we missed half the gig, so I was half p**sed off but then I was thinking 'we've seen something mental there'.

'I don't know if we'll get a refund. I'm not fussed about it but people were talking about it.'

Daniel says the incident happened after bassist Kieren swapped with Kyle to become the lead singer for a few tracks and it was when Kieren was walking back to his old position that he kicked the mic.

The home improvement company director has seen The View more than 10 times since 2006 and he says the incident won't stop him being a fan.

Jason replied: 'Might be wise!'

Another joked: 'You got a good old view of that then.'
