Police rescue man who was kept chained inside a bedroom at an Argentina home for days

Authorities in Argentina rescued a man who was left chained inside a bedroom by his girlfriend over fears that he would cheat on her.

The former couple had been dating for six months, but the 30-year-old woman increasingly became jealous of her 29-year-old beau, the victim told police. 

Fearing that he could potentially leave her for someone else in the neighborhood, the woman locked him inside one of the bedrooms at her residence in the Buenos Aires southern town of La Plata.

On Saturday, the man managed to grab her cellphone and text a friend who alerted authorities.

The names of the girlfriend and the victim have not been released.

Cops in the southern Buenos Aires of La Plata rescued a 29-year-old man who was left by his girlfriend chained in a bedroom for three days

The man told police that their relationship started to deteriorate over the last couple of weeks when she started to impose a curfew on him.

The woman had set a time for him to arrive home whenever he went out with his friends and coworkers.

'She had gotten worse in the last few months,' he told authorities.

On one occasion, the woman disconnected his WhatsApp application from his cellphone and later broke his phone, leaving in incommunicado.

The woman was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping.

In a similar incident, Brenton Bell, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, was arrested in March for allegedly locking his 40-year-old girlfriend in a closet at a vacant home for two months.

The woman managed to escape the residence, where she was only allowed to leave the closet for an hour a day.

She told police she was barely fed and had no access to a bathroom.
