DeSantis team to try and take him to the White House

Newly-declared Ron DeSantis has finalized his campaign team, made up largely of staunch political allies, for the 2024 presidential election run.

The mastermind of the DeSantis campaign is Generra Peck, who orchestrated his successful 20-point victory in the Florida gubernatorial vote in November.   

Peck is close to the 44-year-old and his wife, Casey DeSantis, and was even name-checked when the Navy veteran was sworn in for a second term at the held of the Sunshine State.

Generra Peck, who masterminded DeSantis's gubernatorial victory, joins as one of his main advisers for his 2024 run.

Dustin Carmack, the now presidential candidate's former congressional chief of staff, joins as his policy director.

He has just left a cybersecurity post at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tan, and is now to be hawkish on China. 

Carmack also served in the Trump administration as the chief of staff for the director of national intelligence.

Ryan Tyson, a pollster, will serve as a senior adviser alongside Jason Johnson, a former staffer to Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Bryan Griffin will become the campaign press secretary after serving in a similar role in the Florida governor's office.

Carl Seusa, who established the WinRed digital fundraising platform that piled up more than $1 billion for GOP candidates in 2020, will serve as chief technology officer.

The Florida governor faces an uphill challenge, with their candidate trailing former President Donald Trump in most polls.

DeSantis formally entered into the race during a disastrous Twitter Spaces appearance with Elon Musk at 6 p.m Eastern Time that was plagued by audio problems. 

The campaign is also launching a donation blitz during a two-day fundraising event at the Four Seasons hotel in Miami.
