Corgi that accurately predicted NBA playoff results makes its predictions for State of Origin

The dog that predicted some of the results of the NBA playoffs with incredible accuracy has made its State of Origin forecast and it's good news for those of a Blues persuasion.

Social media was sent into a tailspin earlier this month when a corgi, nicknamed both Steph Furry and Fluffy Mamba, correctly predicted the outcome of the first five games of the Western Conference semi-finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.

Standing at the top of a staircase, the dog knocks a basketball down, with two buckets awaiting the ball at the bottom - one for New South Wales and one for Queensland.

And if his prediction is to be believed, the Blues will wrestle the shield back from the Maroons, winning the series 2-1.

The corgi predicted New South Wales will win the series opener on Wednesday night in Adelaide, before wrapping up a series win in Brisbane with Queensland winning a dead rubber in Sydney on July 12.

The dog had correctly called the result of the first five games between the Lakers and the Warriors by using the same method. 

The corgi correctly predicted that the Lakers would go 1-0 up, only for the Warriors to pull the series level in Game 2.

He then 'knew' the Lakers would take a 2-1 and then 3-1 lead, before the Warriors pulled a game back to make it 3-2.

New South Wales last won the shield in 2021, its third series triumph in four years 

Queensland claimed the 2022 State of Origin series after beating the Blues 2-1

The corgi then predicted the Warriors would come back from 3-2 down to take the series and keep the defense of their title alive, but that forecast didn't come to pass as the Lakers won Game 6 to wrap up the series. 

Their hopes of winning a 19th NBA title and a first since 2020, however, evaporated in the Western Conference Final as they were swept in four games by the Denver Nuggets. 

The 2023 State of Origin series kicks off in Adelaide on May 31 and it's arguably the most evenly poised of any in recent memory. 

The Maroons hold the shield and have triumphed in two of the past three years, but the Blues are desperate to show last season's defeat was only a blip as they look to win a fourth series in six years under Brad Fittler.
