Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris helped to save the life of a drowning child at a Las Vegas resort pool over the weekend, and he's crediting the team's first-aid training in the wake of Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin's on-field cardiac arrest.

Morris and his family were at the Encore Las Vegas, when a three-year-old boy began to drown, according to a reported Instagram post from his wife Nicole's private account. The boy did not have a pulse when lifeguards began performing CPR.

As he explained to ESPN, the 46-year-old Morris rushed over to see how he could help.

'I saw people calling 911 so my first question was, where is the AED (automated external defibrillator ?' Morris told ESPN's Paolo Uggetti. 'When I got back, we had a doctor on site that was able to start the compressions. I was able to hand the AED to him, get it open for him, put the pads on the child, and he ended up being OK.'

Nicole wrote on Instagram that the boy has been discharged from the hospital.

'I'm just thankful I knew what to do,' Morris said. 'You just never know when you're going to need that stuff.'

Morris is among many NFL insiders to receive CPR/AED and first-aid training in the wake of Hamlin's on-field cardiac arrest in Cincinnati. The Buffalo Bills safety's life was saved by team medical personnel, who administered CPR and AED while an ambulance was rushed onto the field.

Hamlin not only survived, but is planning to return to the NFL in 2023 after the cardiac arrest, which has been attributed to an episode of commotio cordis, resulting from a hit to the chest.

Well-wishers poured $10 million into online fundraising campaigns, which he donated to his charity, the Chasing M's Foundation, which is partly focused on supporting CPR and AED training.

The NFL has also adopted the cause, with several teams holding training sessions to get employees CPR and AED certified.

In addition to Hamlin's cardiac arrest, Morris also told ESPN that the recent drowning death of Bucs linebacker Shaquil Barrett's two-year-old daughter further helped to raise his awareness and preparedness.

Arrayah Barrett is believed to have fallen into the family pool one April morning, resulting in the tragedy.
