Three minors and an adult have been injured in a horror drive-by shooting in San Antonio, Texas.
Law enforcement rushed to the scene at approximately 2:10pm Friday after reports of an ongoing shooting on the city's northeast side.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the drive-by shooting was a targeted attack, with the intended victim reportedly a male under the age of 18 who was hit by the gunfire.
McManus confirmed that the other victims were a five-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and a 60-year-old woman, as he stressed that the attack was 'not random'.
A large police presence was seen assembled outside the scene, which occurred on San Antonio's northeast area
The attack unfolded outside an apartment complex, where an unknown number of suspects reportedly rolled up in vehicles before unloading on the victims and fleeing the scene.
The youngest child was inside the targeted vehicle when the perpetrator opened fire, while the others were stood outside.
All four victims were taken to hospital following the attack, however no further updates on their condition have been released.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing, and it is unclear how many suspects were involved.
The police chief said after the attack that law enforcement has information on a suspect vehicle, but declined to reveal any further details.
'Drive-by shootings are always dangerous to not only the intended target but to other people who happen to be in the line of fire,' McManus said.
The shooting erupted at the Costa Biscaya apartments in San Antonio (pictured), which police claimed is not known as a problem area
'Unfortunately, in this case, there were three other people who were not the intended target.
'This was not random... we're speaking to the intended target - who we believe is the intended target.'
The apartment complex, named Costa Biscaya, was 'not on the radar' of law enforcement as a problem area.
'Drive-bys can happen anywhere, it just depends on where the person that the shooters are after - it just depends on where they are. It can happen anywhere,' said McManus.
