Jim Turner, the legendary New York Jets and Denver Broncos kicker, has died at the age of 82 from heart failure.
The quarterback-turned-kicker won the Super Bowl with the Jets in 1968 and went on to become a Broncos Ring of Fame player, and was also notable for not missing a single game in his entire career.
He played quarterback for Utah State during his college career, and was then selected by Washington as a 19th-round pick in the 1963 NFL Draft.
He then failed to make the roster and reportedly ditched his football career for a life in teaching, per NBC Sports.
In 1964, then-Jets coach Weeb Ewbank signed him to play in the American Football League, and just four years later he was part of the famed New York team that beat the Colts to win Super Bowl III, kicking field goals from 32, 30 and nine yards.

After his time with the Jets, he spent eight years with the Broncos and was inducted into the team's Ring of Fame in 1988.
