Students in Virginia have rejected the notion of replacing Father's Day with a more gender inclusive one - like Parent's Day - and say it's just more woke nonsense.

It comes after Springfield College in Massachusetts released a language guide about replacing the terms 'father' and 'mother' with something more gender-neutral like 'parent' on its campus.

Last week, just days before many would celebrate the father in their life, Campus Reform reporter William Biagini took to the streets in Tyson's Corner to ask local students what they thought.

Each person featured in the video disagreed with changing the holiday name and had even more of an issue with the idea of banning the day, pointing out that fathers - just like mothers - need to be celebrated.

Biagini began the video by asking local students about their plans for Father's Day. He then moved on to the question about the idea of the holiday name change.

Some of the students immediately shut down the idea, while others appeared to be shocked that changing the name or banning the holiday altogether was even an option.

'Nah, it's crazy. It's been like that since day one, so why [are] they gonna change it now?' one student replied.

Another pointed out that she didn't see the point of having a gender-neutral title for parents, even if they are LGBTQ.

'Like, if you have two dads, you call them both 'Dad.' Or if you have two moms you call them both 'Mom.' I don't think it should be banned.'

The reporter's questions stem from the language guide recently posted on the Springfield College's website.

In the guide, pronouns are broken down and explained, with suggestions of more inclusive ways to use them and 'gender-inclusive nouns' to be used instead of 'gendered nouns.'

It suggests using the term 'parent' instead of 'mother' and 'father' as a way to respect parents identifying with non-traditional gender roles.

Biagini took it a step further and asked the students what they thought about banning 'Father's Day' altogether.

'No, cause we need to celebrate the fathers too because without females and males how are we to populate? We need fathers. We need mothers as well,' one person replied. 'So you can't really celebrate Mother's Day and not give the fathers their handclap.'

Another added that fathers deserve their own day.

'I wouldn't do that because I feel like Dads, they work the hardest for the family,' she said. 'Of course they should have their own day.'

When asked if banning Father's Day would possibly downplay the role of the father, a student disagreed and said 'they'd still be a father, and they'd still do everything they do.'

The students who were featured in the video all told the reporter that they still planned to celebrate Father's Day just as they always have.
