A nurse has revealed she met her future daughter-in-law 22 years before her son did when she saved her life at birth.

In 2001, Mary Ann West was working as a Labor and Delivery nurse in Bountiful, Utah when she assisted in the delivery of a baby girl, that baby girl named Kelsey Poll, who unbeknownst to her, would be her son's future wife.

When Kelsey's mother, Stacy Poll, arrived to the hospital, Mary stepped in to help ease her anxieties and even ended up ensuring the baby was safely delivered after discovering the expectant mother had a life-threatening condition.

22 years later, Mary discovered her son, Tyler's, wife, Kelsey, was the same baby she saved on June 15, 2001.

Two decades before Kelsey and Tyler tied the knot, Mary helped Stacey welcome a healthy baby girl, according to KSL

Stacey came in extremely anxious, and Mary helped comfort her.

However, Mary soon discovered that Stacey had a life-threatening condition known as velamentous cord insertion, which is a pregnancy complication that occurs when the umbilical cord from a fetus doesn't insert into the placenta correctly, according to Cleveland Clinic

If the condition isn't noticed, it can result in extreme blood loss and even death for the mother and baby.

Luckily, because of Mary's quick thinking and skill, she was able to save the baby's life.

Referring to Mary, Stacey told KSL: 'She touched Kelsey before I did. She put her on my stomach and let me see that she had 10 fingers and 10 toes.'

After helping to deliver Kelsey, Mary waved goodbye to Stacey and her new baby daughter, never imagining their paths would cross again.

However, 22 years later, while Kelsey was working at a bank, Tyler came in and the two ended up hitting it off.

They soon made the decision to get married and introduce each other to their families.

When Mary met Kelsey she thought she 'looked familiar', however, couldn't exactly place her.

She ultimately decided to bring out her photo albums and see if there was any truth behind her suspicions.

There, in the photo book, was a picture of Mary inking baby Kelsey's feet.

The family was shocked.

Kelsey told the outlet: 'It was one of those things that confirmed to me that Tyler was someone I wanted to be with for the rest of my life, and it also made me feel closer to his mom and his family.'

And Mary revealed she was over the moon when she discovered the 'miracle' baby she helped deliver was going to be an official member of her family.

She added: 'It really does feel like it was meant to be.'

And Stacey is forever grateful for Mary's help during the delivery, and that her daughter will have two moms that have an unbreakable bond in her life.
