A family has sued Macy's after their three-year-old toddler was left maimed by a six feet tall male mannequin that was allegedly not secured properly.

The child, identified only as 'ZK', was with his parents at the department store in Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, Long Island, when he pulled on the male mannequin.

A lawsuit filed this week in Manhattan Supreme Court alleges that the dummy fell and injured the boy's face because it was not properly fastened to its base.

The incident happened in June 2019 but the family's attorney Michael Brumer told the New York Post that marks on the child's forehead and nose are still visible.

The attorney added: 'We were told by a security guard that it's not the first time those mannequins have tipped over.'

The lawsuit, filed by the boy's father Atalla Khalaf, claims ZK suffered severe personal injuries and mental anguish, according to Fox Business

The family want damages to cover the medical expenses as well as compensation for the child's injuries.

Injuries from dummies have been the cause of several lawsuits in previous years, it has been reported.

According to TribLIVE, a woman sued Men's Warehouse in 2019 when a mannequin draped in a tuxedo fell onto a her head in Westmoreland, Ohio.

Macy's, a department store company in New York, first opened in 1858.

MailOnline has contacted Macy's for comment.
