A Los Angeles area hospital is dealing with a twin baby boom after ten sets of multiples were born and brought to the NICU within a two week time frame.

Parents and hospital workers said they were shocked to find out the number of twins being treated at Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's Hospital consecutively.

'We're used to twins, we're used to multiples, but having that many at one time is quite an accomplishment,' said Ashley Richardson, who works in the NICU.

Most of the sets are double boys, and the babies range from 2 pounds to 6 pounds.

'It's comforting to see so many other families experiencing the same thing,' said Jordan Edelstein, a new dad who welcomed boy-girl twins.

Richardson, an RN and the NICU's assistant nurse manager, said she thinks the 'twin baby boom' could be a record for the hospital.

'I don't know what the record is, but 10 is pretty close to it,' she said.

While hospital staff may be feeling slightly overwhelmed, the parents said they are on cloud nine with their new arrivals.

Feldman, a twin herself, said she wasn't surprised when she found out she was having twins but she did face some concerns when one of her twins was in distress.

The babies were born at just 34 weeks while most twins are born around 36 weeks.

Luckily her daughters, Sarah Taylor and Esther Higher Feldman, are both doing well.

She said she and her husband were hoping to bring their daughters home soon so they could meet their two-year-old brother.

Fellow mom Diana Edelstein said she is soaking up the time with her twins after going through a rough journey to become pregnant.

Diana said finding out they were expecting twins was a dream come true.

'I had always envisioned having boy and girl twins, and somehow, by the grace of God, we were able to have that vision come true,' Diana said.

Their twins were also born early but are doing well.

They welcomed daughter Lexi Brooklyn Edelstein first and one minute later, son Cameron Cash Edelstein was born.

Jordan said while they are spending the time enjoying their blessings they are also taking comfort in being in it with other parents of multiples.

'I was surprised there were two, let alone 10 sets of twins, but it's been great to connect with other parents and see their journey,' Jordan said.

Samantha Pearlman who welcomed twins echoed the new dad's statement, saying her daughters' being surrounded by fellow twins has helped.

Her daughters, Ava and Tessa Pearlman, were born at just two pounds each and have been in the NICU for six weeks.

'We've been keeping in touch, which is really wonderful, talking and exchanging numbers,' Pearlman said.

Hospital staff said that while the nurses and doctors may be feeling slightly overwhelmed with the influx, they love having the babies around.

'Seeing all these twins brings back happy memories for me,' said Bevin Merideth, the NICU assistant director and nurse.

Merideth has twin sisters and said they also spent time in the hospital, one of the reasons she became a nurse.

'We look forward to hearing from these parents and seeing photos as the twins progress at home. Perhaps next year at this time we'll have a reunion with 20 1-year-olds,' she said.
