Lori Vallow Daybell sentencing recap: Idaho cult mom who killed her kids JJ and Tylee Ryan blasted by judge who says she went down a 'bizarre religious rabbit hole' that led to the murders and spending the rest of her life behind bars

Lori Vallow spoke in court minutes before Judge Boyce sentenced her to life in prison for the murders of her children.

'Jesus knows me and Jesus understands me. I mourn with all of you who mourn my children and Tammy. Jesus Christ knows the truth of what happened here.

Jesus Christ knows that no one was murdered in this case. Accidental deaths happen, suicides happen, fatal side effects from medications happen.'

Later in her statement, she talks about talking with her dead children. 

'One of the times Tylee came to me as a spirit after she died, she said, she commanded me "stop worrying mom, we are fine." She knows how I worry and how I miss her.

'The first time JJ visited me after he passed away he put his arm around me and he said to me "you didn't do anything wrong mom, I love you. and I know you loved me every minute of my life."

'JJ, was an adult spirit and he was very, very tall when he put his arm around me. He is busy, he is engaged, he has jobs that he does there and he is happy where he is. His life was shot but JJ's life was meaningful. He was a wonderful person and touched the lives of everyone.

'My eternal friend Tammy Daybell has visited me on several occasions. She came to bring me peace and comfort. And I know she is extremely busy helping her family, especially her children and grandchildren. I have a great love for Tammy

'My beautiful children rest safely this day in the arms of Jesus. My wonderful friend Tammy Daybell rests safely this day in the arms of Jesus.

'I look forward to the day that we are all reunited and I too will rest in the arms of my Jesus.'

Lori Vallow emotionless as she's led out of courtroom in shackles. 

Reporters at the courthouse say the cult mom was whisked away to the Idaho Department of Correction after slipping through a door opposite from the media and crowds of loved ones, supporters and true crime fans.

Vallow will not go back to Madison County Jail, but instead will be transferred to the Idaho Department of Correction.

She will likely serve her sentence at the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center.

Judge Boyce blasted Lori Vallow before handing down several life sentences, telling the cult mom she destroyed family relationships, took away people who were loved - and justified it by bizarre religious notions.

'You may not believe to this day that you've done anything wrong but I don't believe a God in any religion would want to have this happened what happened here.'

The judge said it was shocking that Vallow had no criminal history yet was sitting there for the most heinous crime.

'It is the most shocking things I can imagine that a mother killed their own children and you simply have no remorse for it. There is no remorse for what you did.'

He also told Vallow that Tammy Daybell was murdered as a result of her conspiracy.

'She was by all accounts a happy, healthy mother and wife and you were out shopping for wedding rings to marry her husband while she was still alive.'

Judge Steven Boyce has handed down life sentences for cult mom Lori Vallow without the possibility of parole for the murders of her children Tylee and JJ, and for conspiring to commit murder in the death of Chad Daybell's former wife Tammy Daybell.

Vallow will serve a life sentence for the murder of each child and for each conspiracy to commit murder for each child and for Tammy Daybell. 

She was sentenced to five years fixed and five years indeterminate for the Grand theft charge.

Three of the life sentences will run consecutively. The other two will be concurrent. 

Vallow was also ordered to pay restitution and fines.

She can appeal the sentence to the Idaho Supreme Court but it must be done within 42 days, Judge Boyce tells her.

Vallow was led out of the courtroom in shackles while JJ's grandparents Kay and Larry hug over the victory. 

Judge Boyce told Vallow that she was convicted of killing her children and justified it by going down a 'bizarre religious rabbit hole' that he said she is still down following her speech in court.

'You killed those children to remove them as obstacles and profit financially. You justified all this to go down a bizarre religious rabbit hole and clearly you are still there.'

'You moved to Rexburg - a community where you could find 1,000 random families to take your children - and you brought them here to murder them. You had so many other options. You chose the most evil and destructive path possible.'

'You've been convicted of and committed the more serious crimes possible and those crimes deserve the most serious punishment.'

Judge Boyce is reviewing factors before sentencing Lori Vallow.

He points out that she does not have a criminal history. However, she now has pending charges in Arizona. 

'It is somewhat incredible in this case seeing you have gone from no criminal history in your life to first-degree murder charges and additional counts in another state.'

He commends Lori for being a good inmate in the Madison County Jail where she has served over 1,000 days.

Lori Vallow said Tylee and JJ have visited her.

She said JJ visited her and said he put her arms around her and said she did nothing wrong.

'He is busy, he is engaged and he is happy where he is. JJ's life was short and it was meaningful.'

She also calls Tammy as her 'eternal' and 'wonderful' friend' who has also visited her.

Lori Vallow began her statement by quoting John 8:7 from the Bible.

'Jesus knows me and Jesus understands me.'

'He that is without sin among you, let him first cast the stone.'

'Jesus knows me. and Jesus Understands me. I mourn with all of you who mourn my children and Tammy. Jesus Christ knows the truth.

Jesus Christ knows no one was murdered in this case. Accidental deaths happened. Suicides happened. Fatal side effects of medications happened.'

Vallow tells the court that she died while she was having Tylee in the hospital. She was was outside her body and said she was visited by others from the spirit world.

'I have many communications with Jesus.'

'I know for a fact my children are happy and busy in the spirit world.'

'Because of communication with my friend Tammy Daybell, I know she is very happy and extremely busy.'

Thomas asked the court for a lesser sentence of a 20 year fixed term with an indeterminate term of life.

He argues that giving Vallow hope is not for her but for all of us as this hope will be incentive for her to be a better inmate, a better person and eventually benefit society.

'If you give her life you will throw her away and there is no incentive to rehabilitate,' he said.

Defense attorney John Thomas is giving a recommendation for Vallow's sentencing.

He said that Lori's message is one of love.

'People who truly know her know she's about love. We didn't always get along and our team has had a lot misunderstandings.

But Lori's overarching theme is about love. She is very different than who she plays on tv. She's smart, insightful, witty.'

'She has redeeming values. Kay Woodcock sang her praises today - that Lori was a great mom,' Thomas continued.

'There's a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about how this ultimately came to pass and that's probably not going to change any time soon.

It's a case that drew nationwide interest when Vallow's 16-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old son Joshua 'JJ 'Vallow vanished in September 2019. 

Just a few months later, Vallow and her new husband were vacationing in Hawaii - the children nowhere to be seen.

The story took a tragic turn in June 2020 when their bodies were discovered buried in shallow graves on Daybell's property. It was later revealed that the couple had referred to the children as 'zombies' who stood in their way.

JJ, 7, was found buried, suffocated to death with 'a thick layer of duct tape across his mouth jaw line to jaw line' and a plastic bag over his head. He was still wearing his red pajamas. 

Tylee had been partially eaten by an animal and her pelvis was hacked into with a sharp tool before her corpse was burned. Her remains were so badly decomposed no autopsy could be performed to determine a cause of death.

Images of the teen's charred and burnt remains were also shown to the court, showing how she was found 'stuffed' into a melted green bucket. A 'partial human skull' was also found in the grave.

Several jurors were visibly shaken by the graphic pictures and relatives in court, including JJ's grandfather, Larry Woodcock, broke down when the pictures were shown.

Woodcock, who watched proceedings with wife Kay for the entirety, was overwhelmed by weeks of testimony about the grisly murders.

Lori Vallow's sentencing hearing has resumed after a midmorning break. 

The defense will now give its recommendation for Vallow's sentence. 

Wood recommends that Judge Boyce give Loei Vallow fixed life sentences without chance of parole for the murders of Tylee, JJ, and Tammy Daybell.

He said: 'There is no true justice for murder, so we have to do the best we can.'

He also asked that Lori get 20 years for the grand theft charge and for Vallow to pay a $5,000 fine to the next-of-kin of the victims. 

'What does justice for JJ, Tylee and Tammy require? It requires this defendant never has a chance for freedom because her victims never had that. What is the value of a life? Thank you.'

Attorney Rob Wood told the court on Monday that 'only a sentence of life without parole is acceptable' for Lori Vallow's punishment. 

He said that rehabilitation requires remorse and responsibility. 'There is literally zero evidence that she has remorse or responsibility.'

Wood pointed out that this shocking crime happened in a low crime area - and added that the sentence imposed today should send a message - 'don't come here and murder children.'

Attorney Rob Wood is now giving his sentence recommendation.

'What is the value of a human life? What is the value of a 16-year-old girl with her life ahead of her? What is the value of a 7-year-old with special needs? What is the life of a grandmother and mother?'

'The defendant placed a value of zero on these lives...We echo the sentiments made in the victim impact statements.'

Wood gave a timeline of the crimes and told the court that Vallow 'has proven by her actions that she is dangerous to society.'

'In Idaho alone, she was involved in three murders within the space of six weeks. The court can acknowledge she faces two charges of conspiracy to commit murder in Maricopa County.

This defendant violated the most sacred trust that exists in society and she did it for gain. She did it for money. A defendant who is willing to murder her own children is willing to murder anyone.'

'Only a sentence of life without parole is acceptable,' Wood continues. 

Rehabilitation requires remorse and responsibility. 'There is literally zero evidence that she has remorse or responsibility.'

Lori Vallow's son Colby Ryan said in a written statement on Monday that he he 'watched everything crumble and be shredded to pieces' after the murders of his siblings Tylee and JJ.

Ryan's victim statement was read aloud in court by attorney Rob Wood. 

'Tylee will never be able to have the life she deserves. JJ will never have the chance to grow up. My girls will never have the chance to know him in this life.

My siblings and father deserve so much more than this. I want them to be remembered for who they were - not a headline.'

JJ's grandmother Kay Woodcock told the court that Lori Vallow should never be released from prison.

 'Lori is a monster. She is a danger to society. Her body and manipulative mind are used for her selfish greed and satisfaction.' 

Vallow's current husband is Chad Daybell. Her four former husbands were Charles Vallow, Nelson Yanes, William Lagioia, Joseph Ryan.

Chad Daybell, the fifth husband of Lori Vallow, is at the center of the harrowing investigation after the children's badly decomposed remains were found buried in his backyard in June 2020.

Not much is known about her first husband, a man named Nelson Yanes who was her high school sweetheart.

After divorcing Yanes, Lori married her second husband William Lagioia in 1995, with whom she had her first child, Colby, when she was 22-years-old.

But their marriage ended after just a year, with Colby later remarking that his parents had a 'bad relationship'. '(Lori) didn't feel like she wanted me to be in that, so she took me from that situation.'

Joseph Ryan

Lori's third husband was Joseph Ryan, with whom she had her daughter Tylee.

He was described by Colby as initially 'sweet and lovable', before he allegedly began abusing him and Tylee. The abuse was documented in the Netflix show as the reason Vallow turned to religion.

Ryan died in 2018, and although his death was initially ruled as a heart attack, investigators re-opened the case after Lori's fourth husband Charles Vallow was shot dead the following year.

Lori's fourth husband, Charles Vallow, married the former beauty pageant winner in 2006, which was noted by Colby as partly being because he was 'financially secure'.

He moved to Hawaii with the family in 2014, the year after they adopted JJ. But the family returned to mainland America and settled in Arizona in 2016.

The longest marriage of Lori's life seemingly came to an end in February 2019, when Charles filed for divorce after repeatedly voicing concerns over her mental state.

In June, he confronted Lori about a letter she send in his name asking cult author Chad Daybell to help him write a book - which led him to accuse her to of having an affair with Chad and threaten to tell his wife Tammy.

On July 10, 2019 - the day before Charles was killed - Lori's brother Adam insisted upon staging an intervention regarding their 'radical beliefs', according to a probable cause statement following his death.

Lori found out about the planned intervention and texted Alex, 'We both need to stay here to defend ourselves ... It's coming to a head! This week will change everything.'

The next day, July 11, 2019, Charles went to Lori's home to pick up JJ at 7.35am, according to cell phone records.

He was shot just 14 minutes after he arrived, police said. The shooter, Alex, successfully argued self-defense after claiming he was attacked by Charles. But evidence suggested he fired shots into Charles' body after he already hit the floor, and never attempted to administer CPR.

Following a twisted family story that has involved multiple suspicious deaths, renewed interest has been placed upon the shooting by investigators and true-crime followers.

Within weeks of Charles' death, Lori moved her children to Rexburg, Idaho, mere miles from where Daybell lived with his family. By September, Tylee and JJ had vanished, with their remains only being found 10 months later in June 2020.

Lori Vallow slumped in her seat at the defense table and turned away from JJ's grandma Kay Woodcock as she called her a 'money-hungry monster' during her victim impact statement on Monday. 

Kay talks about how Lori could have been free because she and Larry would have taken JJ in and loved him.

'She could have been free to be Chad's mistress and foot the bill with money from spilled blood. JJ and Tylee could have lived with us and had wonderful lives.'

Kay breaks down crying and Vallow looks down.

'She has shown no grief for the lives she took and the pain she caused. Today I take the power back. I pray my words will assist you. My sincerest hope is they will seriously be contemplated.'

Kay Woodcock, who was a constant presence at the trial in May, starts her statement by reading out numbers. Each one has to do with significant point in her statement. 

'Today marks 1,481 days that have been filled with terror.' Kay said, noting that Lori Vallow waited to tell Charles Vallow's kids after he was killed. 

'This was the beginning of her cruel campaign of terror.'

She continued that Lori abandoned son JJ so she could carry on her affair with Chad Daybell and profit from death. 

'I now realize what a nothing Chad Daybell is. A man with no ability to support anyone. A man who rode his wife's coattails of success.'

Tammy Daybell's sister Vicki Hoban spoke on her behalf and broke down as she slammed cult mom Lori Vallow that she participated in the 'savage murders of precious people.'

'Lori wanted money, sex and more power and what Lori wants, Lori gets.'

But instead of a goodnight's sleep that night in October 2019, 'Tammy was brutally executed in her own bed. She was taken from us by murdering thieves.'

'Lori you participated in the savage murders of precious people,' she told Vallow.

'You are now going to pay the price albeit never sufficient in this life.'

She cried as she spoke about her slain sister. 

'Never will she whisper a joke with her friend and laugh. Never see another sunrise or sunset. Never smell fresh rain or see her grandchildren stomp through a mud puddle. Never to be heard called grandma or mom. Not another birthday, Christmas, birth of a grandchild...'

Vicki Hoban, Tammy Daybell's aunt, is now speaking. She was granted special permission to speak following the death of Tammy's mother in June.

But she's met with objection as she begins her impact statement.

'I felt (Lori) was shameful during the trial. It was apparent to me and others she did not take the proceedings seriously. Her smirking, her smiling, giggling, talking...'

John Thomas then objects and they hold a sidebar. 

Samantha Gwilliam, sister of Tammy Daybell, speaks directly to Lori Vallow that she ripped their family apart. 

'You could have easily divorced your spouses and live your perverted life....You've never met me and I don't know you but I've always been able to tell when I've been lied to. You are a liar, an adulterer and a murderer. (Tammy) was 1000x the woman you will ever be.'

'I am not a dark person or a zombie. For me and my family to be presented that way is unacceptable. Everyone knows what liars you are. They now know what horrible things you have done.

'I miss my sister every day. I will grieve for her and my mother ever day. I will always remember them but I choose to forget you. As I leave this courtroom today, I hope to never think of you.'

She also spoke on behalf of Tammy's father Ron Douglas.

Tammy Daybell's sister Samantha Gwilliam is speaking now and will then read a statement on behalf of her father Ron Douglas.

Other family members will also give victim impact statements.

Tammy's aunt, Vicki Hoban was granted special permission to speak due to the fact that Tammy's mother passed away in June.

JJ's grandmother Kay Woodcock will speak on behalf of her grandson.

Vallow's son Colby Ryan has provided a statement but it will be read aloud in court by attorney Rob Wood. 

Lori Vallow may speak at her sentencing, her attorneys said on Monday in court. 

Vallow will have an opportunity to speak before Judge Boyce hands down the sentence.

It's a chance for her to speak without objection or cross-examination. She chose not to take the stand in her defense at her trial.

The sentencing is underway in Fremont County Court.

Lori Vallow's surviving son Colby Ryan is expected to speak at her sentencing today. 

During the trial, jurors heard a disturbing phone call between Vallow and Ryan, 27, while she was held in prison following the discovery of her dead children.

Vallow laughed hysterically as her only surviving son confronted her about the murder of two of her children - and insisted Jesus Christ was 'on her side.'

A distressed Ryan told his mother 'you murdered my siblings' and demanded an explanation after their bodies were found in shallow graves at Daybell's property.

Vallow then utters a high-pitched laugh as Ryan accuses her of 'blasphemy'. He says to his mother: 'Tell me that, that Jesus Christ is on your side right now.' She responds: 'I can tell you that.'

Ryan also tells Vallow during the call: 'I have prayed for you in my worst moments. I have prayed for my siblings who you swore to me were okay. I thought I could trust you. I thought that you were a completely different person.'

He adds: 'You lied to me, specifically to me, more times than I can count. To know that they are gone and you knew, and my phone's been texted by my little sister who's not even alive, my little brother, who's the sweetest little kid ever. For what purpose?'

But Vallow repeatedly says 'you weren't there, you don't know what happened'.

Ryan previously said he'd received messages that purported to be from Tylee but were actually sent after she was murdered.

'The texts I received back were different to the way Tylee would type,' he said.

Some of the jurors who convicted Lori Vallow at her trial in May in Ada County were spotted in the Fremont County courtroom Monday for her sentencing.

Lori Vallow is being sentenced at 11am ET today at the Fremont County Courthouse in Idaho. 

It will be livestreamed on Judge Steven Boyce's YouTube page. Lori Vallow is expected to be in person in the courtroom Monday.

In May, she was convicted of murder in the deaths of her children Tylee, 16, and JJ, 7, and conspiring to commit murder in the death of Chad Daybell's former wife Tammy.

A handful of family members, including Hoban, are planning to give victim impact statements before Fremont County District Judge Steven Boyce makes his ruling.

Hoban was granted special permission to speak due to the fact that Tammy's mother passed away in June. In Idaho, only immediate family members are permitted to give victim impact statements and an aunt is not considered 'immediate.'

Vallow's attorneys recently tried to challenge the ruling but Judge Boyce denied their motion and said Wednesday that Hoban will be allowed to speak.

The victim impact statements may be read aloud in court by the victim or may just be submitted to the judge. It's not clear who will physically be in court Monday.

Vallow's oldest son Colby Ryan is expected to provide a statement, along with JJ's grandmother Kay Woodcock and the child's designated representative, Summer Shiflet, who is also Vallow's sister.

Tammy Daybell's sister Samantha Gwilliam and her father Ron Douglas are also expected to provide statements.

The death penalty will not be an option for Lori Vallow, age 50, when she is sentenced today. Judge Steven Boyce took it off the table as an option in March prior to her trial.

Prosecutors had sought the death penalty for both defendants, but Vallow's attorneys said it should be taken off the table in her case because they will not have time to fully review a large amount of evidence that was turned over shortly before.

Judge Boyce agreed and noted that Vallow has not waived her right to a speedy trial, so the proceeding could not be rescheduled to give her defense team ample time to review the evidence.

The death penalty still applies to Chad Daybell’s case, however.

Prosecutors say the couple used doomsday-focused religious beliefs to further a plan to kill her children Tylee and JJ, and Tammy Daybell, and that it was part of a plot to steal social security funds and insurance money.

Idaho law enforcement officers started investigating the couple in November 2019 after extended family members reported that the children were missing. During that period, police say the couple lied about the children’s whereabouts.

Kay Woodcock, JJ's grandmother, tweeted just hours before Lori Vallow's sentencing on Monday writing that it is 'time to close this chapter.'

'T minus 8 hours & counting. Late night working on Final touches to impact statement. Now Time to rest. BIGGGG day tomorrow!!! Time to close this chapter. 🙌🙌🙌🙌'

JJ's grandparents, Larry and Kay Woodcock, led the national campaign to find the missing kids.

They were in court throughout the trial and endured harrowing evidence about the murders. Kay is expected to provide a victim impact statement on Monday.

Doomsday cult mom Lori Vallow was brought down by a litany of damning evidence that included a strand of her own hair found on duct tape wrapped around her son's battered body and chilling text messages plotting to cause her children pain.

Perhaps the most significant piece of evidence was a strand of Lori Vallow's hair found on duct tape that was wrapped around her son JJ after he was suffocated inside a plastic bag and buried in a shallow grave on Daybell's property.

Horrifying text messages plotting to cause children pain

In one exchange, Daybell asked Vallow if she wanted him to 'cause pain' to her niece's children while on a trip with JJ. The pair referred to the kids as '3s' - which was the couple's twisted rating system for 'dark people' they believed were possessed.

Vallow told him to hold off but added if they started acting up again 'we can zap them.' Daybell responded: 'If they are going to act up, we'll at least give them a reason to scream.'

The State claimed Vallow and Daybell's relationship was a driving force behind the murders and the jury heard endless evidence regarding their sick religious cult.

The pair married on a beach in Hawaii just two weeks after his ex-wife Tammy was suffocated to death at their home in Rexburg in October 2019. Vallow's husband Charles Vallow had been previously shot dead by her brother Alex Cox in July 2019.

During the trial, the jury heard how the couple had previously discussed removing the 'obstacles' of her children and their respective spouses while engaged in an affair.

Couple repeatedly told others they had no children

The court heard how Chad Daybell told his murdered wife's sister that Lori Vallow had no children - nine months before the bodies of her two kids were found buried on his property.

He told Samantha Gwilliam, the sister of Tammy Daybell, that his new wife was called Lori Ryan and her previous husband had recently died of a heart attack - but Gwilliam did her own internet research and discovered he had been lying.

When the couple later inquired about a property in Hawaii they also told the realtor they had 'no kids' and were going to be 'empty nesters'.

Vallow bought wedding ring before Daybell's wife died

Lori Vallow used the Amazon account of her dead ex-husband Charles Vallow to shop for wedding clothes and a ring for her marriage to Chad Daybell days before the murder of Daybell's wife Tammy in October 2019.

The jury heard how she searched for a 'beach wedding dress', bathing suit, malachite ring and men's clothing.

Vallow and Daybell went on to marry in Hawaii less than two weeks later - in a ceremony that included the malachite ring and other items named in the Amazon searches.

Vallow faces conspiracy to commit murder charges in Arizona for the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, as well as the attempted killing of her former nephew-in-law, Brandon Boudreaux.

Charles was shot dead in July 2019 by Vallow's brother Alex Cox, who died just months later from natural causes.

Vallow was indicted by a grand jury in Phoenix in July 2021.

It was argued that before Charles Vallow died, he had filed for divorce.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced following Vallow's trial in May that she would be extradited to Arizona to face the charges. She does not face the death penalty in Arizona.

Vallow's nephew-in-law Brandon Boudreaux, the estranged husband of her niece Melani, survived the botched hit after the bullet ripped through the driver's side door of his Tesla in Gilbert, Arizona, in October 2019.

Ryan Pillar, a detective with Gilbert PD, said that Vallow's brother Alex Cox was behind the attempted hit on Boudreaux.

If the hit had been successful on Boudreaux, Melani - who was part of the couple's cult - would have received $200,000 in a life insurance payout. In the end she got $300,000 from their divorce settlement.

Tylee Ryan, 16, and Joshua 'JJ' Vallow went missing in September 2019.

Their bodies were found nine months later in Chad Daybell's backyard. 

The last known photo of the children together is from September during a family trip to Yellowstone National Park with their uncle Alex Cox and Lori Vallow.

Vallow will have an opportunity to speak before Fremont County District Judge Steven Boyce hands down the sentence on Monday.

It's a chance for her to speak without objection or cross-examination. She chose not to take the stand in her defense at her trial.

Prior to her sentencing, a handful of family members planning to give victim impact statements before Judge Boyce makes his ruling. 

Lori Vallow is currently at the Madison County Jail, but after she is sentenced Monday, she will be transferred to the Idaho Department of Correction.

It's been reported that she will likely serve her sentence in the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center.

Vallow can file an appeal within 42 days of being sentenced, which can take around three years for the case to move through the appellate courts. If that appeal is denied, she can file a second - a process that can take another three years.

Lori Vallow faces 10 years to life in prison on each of the murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges that she was convicted of back in May.

She could also receive one to 20 years in prison for a grand theft charge.

Vallow will not receive the death penalty after Judge Boyce took that off the table prior to her trial. 

Judge Boyce could hand down a fixed sentence, which means Vallow will not be eligible for parole until that time is completed. So if she is given a fixed life sentence, she will never be eligible for parole.

The sentencing of Lori Vallow will be livestreamed online and Court TV will air it live.  On pool photographer will be allowed to take pictures inside the courtroom.

The sentencing is set to begin at 9am MT, 11am ET.

A line of people was already formed outside the Fremont County Courthouse on Sunday ahead of Lori Vallow's sentencing on Monday. 

She is set to be sentencing Monday at 9am MT. The court will first hear victim impact statements before the judge makes his ruling. 

True crime fans, supporters and locals began lining up at 4 p.m. on Sunday with their sleeping bags, coats and tents ready to spend the night for a chance to nab a spot in the courtroom on Monday. 

The twisted story of doomsday mom Lori Vallow and her cult leader husband Chad Daybell is a tangled web of death and deceit that sounds like it was ripped from a Hollywood movie script: two dead children, a trail of suspicious deaths, and the bizarre inner workings of a 'religious cult'.

It's a case that drew nationwide interest when Vallow's 16-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old son Joshua 'JJ 'Vallow vanished in September 2019. Just a few months later, Vallow and her new husband were vacationing in Hawaii - the children nowhere to be seen.

The story took a tragic turn in June 2020 when their bodies were discovered buried in shallow graves on Daybell's property. It was later revealed that the couple had referred to the children as 'zombies' who stood in their way.

A string of mysterious deaths then emerged involving family members who the couple referred to as 'dark' possessed individuals. One was Daybell's former wife Tammy Daybell, who died less than two weeks before he married Vallow.

Over the next three years, the grisly saga continued to unravel and on May 12, after weeks of gut-wrenching testimony, Vallow was convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children and conspiring to kill Tammy.

Both Vallow and Daybell are in jail awaiting their fate - one that self-proclaimed doomsday predicter Daybell, who spent years preaching that the end of the world would be on July 22, 2020, likely did not see coming.

Vallow, 50, faces life in prison without parole when she is sentenced on Monday morning in a Fremont County, Idaho courtroom. Daybell will not be at the sentencing. He is set to stand trial on April 1, 2024.

Idaho mother Lori Vallow Daybell faces up to life in prison without parole Monday as she is set to be sentenced in the murders of her two youngest children and a romantic rival in a case that included bizarre claims that her son and daughter were zombies and that she was a goddess sent to usher in the Biblical apocalypse.

Vallow Daybell was found guilty in May of killing her two youngest children, 7-year-old Joshua 'JJ' Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, as well as conspiring to kill Tammy Daybell, her fifth husband´s previous wife.

The husband, Chad Daybell , is awaiting trial on the same murder charges. He will stand trial in April 2024.

Vallow Daybell also faces two other cases in Arizona - one on a charge of conspiring with her brother to kill her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and one of conspiring to kill her niece's ex-husband. Charles Vallow was shot and killed in 2019, but her niece's ex survived an attempt later that year.
